“Desert Void” is the latest mural to besot and bloom against the walls of Ace Hotel & Swim Club in Palm Springs. This time, artist Chazwick “Chaz” Bear — known professionally as the singer, songwriter and record producer Toro y Moi — took to sun-dripped floral forms to create his bold organic shapes and silhouettes. In his own words, “‘Desert Void’ is a celebration of the colors and forms of the desert and a meditation on the experience of existing within that space.” You can see it now, in all of its glorious, kaleidoscopic abstraction, here during Desert Gold, this year’s sonic oasis during Coachella.
