Font Research
The main inspiration for my film opening overall is the opening of “The Royal Tenenbaums” (dir. Wes Anderson, 2001). As his signature, Anderson uses the sans-serif font Futura, which is a staple of his films.
Due to this, I made Futura my font of choice. Although not the font used on the graphics of the milk carton (Art Deco), Futura is similar as it is also a sans-serif typeface. The milk carton itself was inspired by vintage milk cartons, especially pertaining to the milk cartons that featured missing persons.
Through the use of a classic, sans serif font, it gives my film timeless, classic feel, much like Anderson. Art Deco fonts are also associated with mysteries and film noir, and its inclusion will be a homage to the classics.
