Things I changed:
The only thing I changed was that the story and the poem. But the difference is very small and was made to fit everything better with the audio and the animation.
Almost everything else stayed the same and as planned.

Because of a mistake I made in AE the start repeats itself and the music is off and not lined up with the animatic.

First attempt of the 5 second animation
Before drawing the final frames I made rough sketches to see how the animation would look like.

It differs a bit from my first storyboard, because I noticed that a few scenes didnt really fit for the idea or were confusing for the story.

I tried to visualize the story with my poem and went through every sentence to get a good visual concept in my storyboard.
Design Concept analogous and digital.
My thought was to design something that fits the meaning and is easy to animate. Its a simple and minimalized drawing of a young girl that wears normal clothes for the winter. The form of the body is bent and pointy to create the similarities to the other objects in the animation and especially the stars.
Inspiration for the design developement of my animation
Animators on youtube always have one scene that is more animated than the rest of the animatic. Its often the most emotional or important scene in the whole song and story. Even when the artstyle is more detailed, they only use 2-3 colors to set the mood and let the viewer know what its all about. Most of the time its also frame by frame animation with moving backgrounds and characters moving in the front.
Moodboard for “Stars”
I wanted the animation to have a calm and collected feeling to it, that is similiar to a childrens book they read or a story they heard before. Because of the cool blue tones that get associated with the sky, but also of winter and the cold I decided to place the scenario in a cold season. It reinforces the calm atmosphere and the feeling of warmth that a person gets by being dressed in big clothes. Half of the animatic reflects the thoughts of the protagonist, and is therefore shown with a black chaotic background that reminds someone of scribbles done with black ink.

“Stars” by Giulia M
1. Another day has reached its end,
I see people passing by.
On their way to find a place to stay,
while white fleck break through the sky.
2. In this time of the dark I reflect my life,
about the good and bad I had to face.
“I never say myself as something wonderful.”
I think while I look up at the lights in space.
3. I tell myself how weird it is,
how we see us as nothing special.
We just work till the end of our days,
as if we are an empty vessel.
4. And the I watch a bit more clearly,
they almost feel intimidating.
but the strong and brave aspects of these dots,
is an illusion we creating.
5. Humans and stars have one thing in common,
Its the origin of their existence.
From the universe, the elements and the up and down that follows,
can make the fragile but persistence.
6. So maybe when these flecks glow out,
and our day becomes awake and bright,
we are the ones with the job of power.

I see people passing by.
On the streets at night with things to do,
while white flecks break trhough the sky.
2. I look up and reflect my day,
of hardships and memories that made me smile.
even about the people who surrounded me,
and I decide to stay a while.
3. I tell myself how funny it is,
How easy humans get whiny.
About the hardships they face everday,
when looking at the stars can make this problems feel whiny.
4. They are strong and brave but far away,
it almost feels intimidating.
The funny thing however is,
that its an Illusion we creating.
5. Humans and stars have one thing in common,
Its the result of their existence.
Of the elements, the universe and dreams that follow,
can make them fragile but persistence.
6. So maybe when these flecks glow out,
and our day becomes awake and bright,
we are the ones with the jib of power.

The idea for my Animation
An animation for a symbolic poem that decribes how people would get more positively through life, when they could see themselves as how we see and describe stars.
