If you were to design your own school, how would you do it? how would you ensure that the school and the space is utilized fully by the teachers, students staff and community members? To answer these questions, the girls at St.Elizabeth academy participated in a 4 hour design-a-thon event where they would try and address this design challenge. We were also privileged to be joined by Kounkuey Design Initiative (KDI) which is an organization that partners with residents of impoverished areas to develop and implement design solutions that improve physical, economic, and social quality of life. The students were briefly taken through the design-thinking process and worked in teams of 4-5 students. At the end of the event, the students took to the stage to present their ideal school to their peers. Kudos to Nick Okafor, who is been our superstar summer fellow and the one who designed and implemented the design-a-thon event for the students!
Mark of the Ninja Design-a-thon Go!
While waiting on Assassins Creed 3 to complete it's download, I am going to review one of my play-throughs of Mark of the Ninja and post as many design-insightful things as I can as quickly as I can here on my tumblr.
This playthrough is done on New-Game + but the lessons are valid regardless. These will act as bullet points for a larger work and hopefully be as hasty as possible. I'm only running through the first mission with this design rush, I think. We'll see.
Some of these will feature images, some will feature short video clips. Depends on whichever is easier to use at the moment to get the point across.
This is my 500th post!! :D
I can remember the day when I never thought I would get here haha.
To celebrate, I'm going to kick off a design-a-thon until I leave for NZ (mid-March). Each weekday will display different types of design for your inspirational needs. If you have any suggestions, please do not be afraid to let me know!
Here are the day's as follows:
Map Monday (kinda have already started this in the past) - It's all about maps
Boozeday Tuesday (ditto) - package design for liquids
Humpday Wanderlust - travel inspirations
Infomojo Thursday - Information graphics
Fortuitous Friday - Random, highlight, or shout-out... possibly something that caught my eye earlier in the week, and I'm still thinking about it!
Weekend: Relaxing and gearing up for the next week.
Also on the home front, I'm creating my own website, so keep an eye out for that (soon!).
