DDCAST 29 - Christoph Grünberger "The Age of Data".
Christoph Grünberger is a German designer and typographer. He always goes all out in his visual communication. He is characterized by precision and radicalism.
In addition to graphic production, he is now increasingly working as an author, where he also pushes the boundaries. Christoph gives a good example of what is possible with the means of design. In his latest book "Analog Algorithm - Source-related Grid Systems" he deals with the axioms of Karl Gerstner and their contemporary interpretation (Lars Müller Publishers, 2019). Currently, he is working on the encyclopedia "THE AGE OF DATA - Embracing Algorithms in Art & Design", aiming right into the heart of art and design trends revolving around data-based design and artificial intelligence (AI). He is realizing the project with the support of the Swiss trade book publisher Niggli and Kickstarter.
We are interested in his determination to design out of difficult situations, without clients or orders; his self-commissioned, crowdfunded books, the self-curated projects. Georg-Christof Bertsch talks to him about autonomy, acting as a designer, Corona as a trigger for projects - and his latest coup: "THE AGE OF DATA".
