The work on the album began less than a week after the Surrender Tour, in a tiny bedroom of only a few square meters in London. ("It was hotter than in a sauna," Adam groans.)
In stark contrast to the first two Hurts albums, both of which were detailed in their hometown of Manchester, they explored the world for "Surrender" in search of inspiration. "We were in the USA, Switzerland, Finland and Ibiza, almost everywhere," recalls Adam Anderson.
"But with this album, we felt we did not need any further inspiration from outside," Theo says. "We recorded the whole album in a bedroom in London. It was the simplest set-up.”
