Backstory:
Jojo—also known by the nickname “J-J”—was once a minion girl who was given a rare chance to become human through a special potion. Decades ago, when she was still fully a minion, Jojo was utterly fascinated by humans and secretly dreamed of becoming one herself… well, not entirely secretly. Her best friend, Mel, was the only one who knew about this wild yet deeply captivating dream.
She devoted herself to studying human mannerisms—their ways of speaking, especially French and English, and their overall way of being. She longed to behave like a human in every possible sense, not just spend her days saying “Papoy la macarena pomodoro”… though she didn’t mind speaking minionese at all. Still, she wanted to be more than just a minion.
One day, she finally succeeded. She learned to speak French properly first, followed by English. Of course, aside from Mel, no one else knew about her quiet progress toward becoming more human.
And finally, after many attempts… she succeeded. After scavenging stolen human hair and bits of chewed gum left on the street (much to her own amusement), Jojo managed to concoct a strange magical potion—one that would finally fulfill her dearest dream: becoming human.
The effects, however, would last only a week. Once that time was up, she would revert back to a minion and have to wait six hours before taking the potion again to regain her human form. Still, her resolve never wavered. Being human was what she had always dreamed of.
She even asked Mel if he wanted to try the potion as well, but although he politely declined, he continued to support her wholeheartedly.
Nowadays, Jojo lives a completely peaceful life as a human… but who knows what plans she has for the future? Only her knows the answer to that.
Relationships:
Mel: He is Jojo’s best friend. They have known each other for decades and have always supported one another, no matter the choices they made. Although Jojo stopped working for Gru after becoming human, she and Mel remained close and stayed in constant touch. Over time, their deep bond blossomed into romantic feelings, and the two eventually started dating. Much later on, they even have a child together—a half-minion, half-human hybrid named Wallie… but that’s a story for another time.
Vector: Jojo met Vector during her time living as a human, when she enrolled in university to learn more about human life. She was likely Vector’s only true friend. While Vector enthusiastically rambled about fish and his beloved “piranha guns” to his classmates, Jojo was the only one who listened with genuine interest. Vector never finished his studies… and, surprisingly, neither did Jojo—though for very different reasons. Vector dropped out to start his supervillain arc, whereas Jojo was eventually exposed when it was discovered that all her previous diplomas were fake (after all, she hadn’t gone to middle or high school as a minion, she didn't even go to kindergarten). Even so, the two stayed in touch. However, after Vector was stranded on the moon and later imprisoned, Jojo never saw him again. Maybe they'll meet again... who knows.
Maxime Le Mal: Jojo briefly met Maxime at several villain conventions and was immediately fascinated by the fact that he spoke French. She even collected his autograph—and a selfie with him. Several, in fact. Despite her fear of bugs, she was oddly captivated by his dealings with cockroaches. You could easily call Jojo a “crazy fan”—or even a full-blown fangirl. Every time Maxime appeared on stage at the conventions, she would loudly scream his name while proudly wearing an “I 💚 Maxime” T-shirt. Maxime, for his part, always recognized her and even called her by her first name, which only deepened Jojo’s admiration. Inspired by him, she even dreams of starting a career as a supervillain herself—and maybe, one day, becoming Maxime Le Mal’s sidekick. Well… a minion-turned-human girl can always dream.
Fun facts:
Her voice claim as a minion is the classic minion voice, performed by Pierre Coffin. For her human form, it’s… well, my own voice—but I’m not going to share that on the internet, lol. Just imagine a French-Belgian–style accent. That’s the vibe.
Despite her fear of bugs, she is a fan of Maxime Le Mal (as mentioned above). Maybe she’s simply learned to tolerate cockroaches—at least to some extent.
Her favorite color is pink.
She has a chronic digestive condition—known as colitis.
Despite having only three fingers—even in her human form—no one ever questions it… thankfully.
Just like all minions... She loves bananas. (Which, unironically, is also my favorite fruit)
...Well that's all about my self-insert! For now! Thank you greatly if you've read everything!!
