Kki Sweets returns with a minimalist space at Raffles Hotel after its hiatus. I was excited as their cakes brought back memories - I used to indulge in their light-texture Japanese style cakes when they first opened at Ann Siang Hill where my workplace used to be. We made a reservation 2 weeks in advance, and tried 3 cakes from their rotating menu. So confident of their cakes they are that the menu has no pictures, only listing the main ingredients and colour bars. Our fave was easily the J. Resembling a planter pot, I was pleasantly surprised that the ‘concrete’ is actually black sesame Kantan jelly that was light as air, paired with yuzu mousse and matcha bits hidden underneath the chocolate soil. Super ingenious! The tangy flavour of the ‘Koide’ also tantalized our palates, while ‘Fromage’ took some getting used too (you would love it if you like blue cheese). I particularly liked the structured arch ceiling which looks like made of washi paper. Kki Sweets is definitely a fab addition to Singapore’s dessert scene and my teatime chillax locations.
