The canon aspect of thee Festival of the Lost in the Destiny universe means that thee Dread discovered Halloween in their first year of life and decided that putting an hat was the best way to honor it.
As much as I loved Revenent and hearing all my favorite little blorbos talk to each other, i am kinda bummed Bungie didn't lean into the vampire thing with Revenent a little harder. I'm surprised they didn't make the Scorn drain the Ether from living Eliksni as that felt like a slam dunk? But I am more upset we didn't get Grim lore! Bungie knew they fit right in but didn't give us any meat to chew on.
They could've gotten some lore casually dropped in especially some to explain why they're appearing in a higher frequency compared to other Dread. Maybe the Echos singing is drawing them in because their species was extremely vocal. Maybe they lived in mountains and sung to each other over vast differences. Something that doubles as a tie in for their screech ability. Maybe the Echos laments spoke to some deep latent part of their being because they also sung a song of despair as the Witness converted their race to headless pawns. Give us Grim/Dread lore Bungie, please and thank you. They're so cool and their voices are very neat
