Okay, so Nina and Lincoln are born, but Lincoln is still-born, but he’s connected to Nina, like the game. UNLIKE the game however, no one knows about this whole thing. Kevin and Camila are PERFECTLY normal, unlike Jodie’s mom. So they’re both torn up about Lincoln but they do their best to raise Nina, until they realize that some invisible force around their three year old is knocking shit over when she tells it to. They decide to just brush it off, but their concern grows when Nina starts talking to Lincoln; however they just brush it off as an imaginary friend, cause she’s like, six, she doesn’t know any better. And she’s an angel and super smart for her age so what’s the harm? The other barrio kids think it’s weird, but Nina’s so nice, how can you NOT love her? But things get MORE crazy when one day, she’s hanging out with her barrio sibs, and they’re babysitting toddler Sonny, cause Usnavi has to watch him. And then some bullies come up and start harassing them; Usnavi and Benny try to keep the girls safe, but they’re outnumbered and outplanned. The bullies hold everybody back, Sonny’s crying and trying to help and the assholes basically start picking on them one by one and Vanessa’s first up, and Sonny’s next. And Nina freaks out, because NO and Lincoln ain’t happy either; these are the kids who make his sister happy, leave them alone!! Basically, shit goes down and the bullies are FREAKING out, and Lincoln’s really going too far, and the barrio babs just watch and Nina’s yelling for Lincoln to stop. He eventually does and the bullies run away screaming, calling Nina a freak and a monster. Nina feels bad and mentally yells at Lincoln but the other barrio kids don’t care; they have no idea what just happened, but Nina saved them, she’s still their friend. Usnavi gets a TAD more uneasy when Nina helps him talk to his deceased parents, but Nina insists that it's okay, so he leaves it at that. The years pass and things are relatively normal for Nina. Who cares if she’s almost a teenager and still talking to someone invisible- oh, wait, that’s actually kinda concerning. Her parents confront her about it, but Nina really doesn’t know what to say. Lincoln’s ALWAYS been there, she can’t explain him. Lincoln is Lincoln; he’s her friend and he can do things. Kevin, who’s REALLY terrified about this, basically demands Nina to stop talking to Lincoln and forget about him and…Lincoln doesn’t take it well. Luckily, Nina holds him back (she’s had lots of practice) before he can do any damage, and goes up to her room, dismissing the conversation. She has a mental argument with Lincoln that night, telling him what she’s ALWAYS told him right when she realized how dangerous he could be: ‘Violence isn’t always the answer Lincoln! I don’t need you protecting me all the time, I have to learn to fight my own battles!’ So a little while later, Nina goes to college with Lincoln (cause he has no choice) and Nina’s going through the same struggles as the musical. Lincoln tries to help, but Nina doesn’t want him interfering AT ALL. 'This is MY LIFE, Lincoln! You don’t run it!’ Lincoln respects her wishes (he still interferes when creepy college dudes approach her no matter what she says), but is pretty miffed when Nina drops out. While she’s staying with a friend until summer, they have TONS of arguments. 'If you had let me help, this never would happened!’ 'I know what you would have done! Let me guess: Possess all my teachers to pass me?!’ ’…Maybe.’ 'Lincoln, I am NOT going to get through life by cheating, supernatural or not!’ 'Then what are you going to tell mom and dad?!’ 'I figure something out…’ 'You should have just told them the truth in the first place!’ 'I can’t make them worry about me anymore! They already have money problems!’ 'They still have a right to know!’ 'I’ll tell them this summer, when I come home.’ 'You’re gonna regret it…’ So summer comes, Nina goes home and the same events from the musical happen, and Lincoln doesn’t hesitate saying 'I told you so’ when her parents don’t react well. Lincoln tries to cheer her up by playing little tricks on barrio dwellers (he LOVES screwing around in the bodega and freaking Sonny and Usnavi out) but, as per the musical, she finds comfort in Benny, and Lincoln starts getting jealous (basically the conversation Jodie has with Aiden when Ryan’s coming over happens). So then Nina’s dinner happens, and Kevin makes his announcement, and Lincoln and Nina are REALLY pissed for selling the company AND for firing Benny (as jealous as Lincoln is, he likes Benny too; they’re still friends). So much so that Lincoln flips the god damn table and Nina doesn’t stop him and Kevin realizes that Lincoln is still around (he thought Nina had done what he said and forgotten him). Needless to say, he says some things, and Lincoln gives him a good shove before Nina can stop him and she runs off. Nina goes to the club and Benny insults her, resulting in Lincoln making Benny’s shot glass toss the liquid in his face. Nina tries to go dance to get her mind off things, but Lincoln’s grumpy and doesn’t want ANYONE near his sister or himself. Nina knows how Lincoln is when he’s like this so she decides to leave and then BLACKOUT BLACKOUT! But the kicker is, that this blackout was staged. See, government dudes have been picking up energy traces whenever Lincoln uses his powers and have been investigating the barrio for all of Nina’s childhood, watching her, but they couldn’t get a hold of her because of all the eyes in the barrio. They caused the blackout as an ideal time to quietly whisk Nina away, but thanks to help from Lincoln and Vanessa, they get away safely.
