Guuhl claims to have been born during the golden amputation. the truth of this is unclear, the prestige of one old enough to have witnessed events detailed in the books of sorrow worth lying about. She is ancient either way.

Her ascendancy was gained in the last millenia, at an age in which most others have long been enjoying a shelter of their own in the sea of screams. Guuhls brood was cutthroat, the prince and brood queens ruling with an iron fist, counting each tithe carefully as to not be robbed by anyone. Ascendancy was not an option yet, not with the current political constellation back then, and tithe wasn't easy to come by. The brood settled in iceland, a quiet place without much tribute to find, and certainly not enough to steal away for oneself.

She had one ally in all this. Her mate Vâmut was of a similar age, the wisdom of millenia, but without the means to carve his being into the universe yet. And for years they planned and fought, honed oneself against the other in the hopes of surpassing their ascendant superiors in strength and wisdom, ursurping their brood and taking it as their own.

In the end, Guuhl got her wish, a new era built on her knights grave. Vâmuts murder and the subsequent power vacuum allowed her to ursurp her former superiors and take the brood as her own.

Jana was born minutes after her twin, the tail end of the Golden Age, when all paracausality was encompassed by just the Traveler. Growing resentful and rebellious, she wanted to make her own fate irregardless of her parents – a decision which found her to also become a scientist, just like them. An ill-thought out marriage and her tendency for impulsive decisions later, she found herself on Eventide.
