She quickly grabs the knife she picked up on the way upstairs from the kitchen....and....
She plants her fist across his jaw, stunning him for just a moment, but he is able to grab her and restrain her...
She takes her left foot up between his legs and kicks him hard with her size six stiletto shoes and he releases her from the pain he is now experiencing...
Det. Scott found Noah inside and began questioning him about the night Karen was killed...
DET.SCOTT- “So you were home all evening?”
NOAH- “Yes, my last class was at 4 and I came home straight after, and hung out here all night.”
DET. SCOTT- “And were you up when Matais came in that night.”
NOAH- “Yeah, I was sitting on the sofa watching the basketball game.”
DET. SCOTT- “And what time was that?”
NOAH- “Not sure, a little after ten I suppose. He said hello and went upstairs and went to bed. I stayed up and watched the game and then went to bed.”
DET. SCOTT- “Was he in bed when you got to your room?”
NOAH- “I suppose, we have different rooms. He rooms alone, as do I now that my brother moved out.”
DET. SCOTT- “One other thing...It has been brought to our attention that you and the deceased had an affair back last summer...is this true?”
NOAH- “Yes, but...who..told you?”
DET. SCOTT- “We have spoken to Mrs. Caparini’s daughter.”
DET. SCOTT- “I do say, I do love your shoes. I would really like to buy my wife a pair of those. Your feet are small like hers, I bet you wear the same size, but I have no idea what size to get her...what size do you wear?”
DANA- “I wear a size six...do you still want to go upstairs to the bedroom?”
DET. SCOTT- “Yes, the upstairs bedroom, that is where it happened wasn’t it.”
DANA- “Yes...that is where all the blood stains are, that we can not clean up due to your ongoing investigation...so we will have to tear the entire carpeting up, I am sure.”
DET. SCOTT “We? As in you and Mr. Caparini? Are you planning on moving in?”
ANTHONY- “Dana, just take him upstairs, do NOT answer anymore of his ridiculous questions.”
DANA- “Fine...let’s go Detective...”
DET. SCOTT- “So you don’t remember what time you got home the next morning?”
DANA- “No,... that is what I said, I do not remember.”
DET. SCOTT- It must have been really early then, as the doorman at your complex said he came on duty that morning at five a.m. and your car was already parked in it’s assigned spot, as he remembered parking across from it. So was it before five in the morning?”
DANA- “Yes, I suppose it was, if he said he saw my car.”
DET. SCOTT- “So how long have you worked for Mr. Caparini? And in what capacity?”
ANTHONY- “I can answer that, she has been with me for six months, and she is my secretary and personal assistant.”
DET. SCOTT- “Very well, then Miss Cole, how long have you been involved romantically with Mr. Caparini?”
ANTHONY- “Dana, you do not need to answer that...where are you going with this, Detective?”
DET. SCOTT- “Sir, your wife has been murdered, while you were away in a motel room with your personal assistant, from what she says all night...a room with one double bed I may add. I was born at night sir, but not last night. There could be motive here...”
DANA- “Motive for what? For ME to kill her?, that is absurd!”
DET. SCOTT- “Did Mr. Caparini give you information regarding his plans to set his wife up the night she was murdered, by having his cousin seduce her and his sister take pictures so he could file for divorce on grounds of adultery?”
DANA- “No...Why would he tell me that?”
DET. SCOTT- “I think we both know why, Miss Cole...may I ask where you got your shoes, those are quite stunning...my wife would love them.”
DANA- “My shoes?? Hell I don’t know.”
ANTHONY- “I think we are finished here detective.”
DET.SCOTT- “Very well, then...I do need to take another look at the crime scene however...that is still police protected property until the investigation is complete.”
ANTHONY- “Fine, go ahead, but i don’t want to go up there and see that room again. Dana can you take him up...and watch him so he doesn’t plant any evidence.”
DET. SCOTT- “I have no evidence to plant, Mr. Caparini...all the evidence we needed has already been collected. I just need to see one thing...but If Miss Cole wishes to go with me, she is more than happy to do so.”
ANTHONY- “I insist,,,”
The detective stands and then sits back down.....
DET. SCOTT- “So Marlana...have been up here before?”
DANA- “A few time....wait, what? My Name is Dana?”
DET. SCOTT- “Sorry, my mistake...but you know it wasn’t. You are not Dana Cole, are you?”
DANA- “What the hell are you talking about..yes I am Dana Cole. Who the hell is Marlana??”
DET. SCOTT - “Marlana Di Salvo, she is the person that murdered Karen Caparini, right here in this room...She stabbed her with a knife that she was holding in her left hand...and when she left she walked through Karen’s blood and left a shoe print...I bet you know what size shoe she was wearing too don’t you....a size six, women’s shoe..”
DANA- “Are you mad? I have no idea what or who the hell you are talking about.”
DET. SCOTT- “You are left handed...I noticed that when you took your drink downstairs earlier. You also wear a size six shoe, and we both know you are Giovanni Di Salvo’s daughter....Marlana Di Salvo, as Dana Cole never existed until about six months ago when she appeared in Oasis Springs to work for Anthony Caparini... and of course you had no idea that Anthony had set up his plan to divorce Karen, because you were told to seduce and marry Anthony, at whatever cost. And that cost was Karen Caparini’s life...wasn’t it Marlana?”
DANA / MARLANA _ “You think you know everything don’t you. Such a smart detective...ha! My father had no idea what my plan was, and still doesn’t. Anthony’s father killed my uncle, Johnny Di Salvo... and they refuse to settle the score...so I plan to. You are right, I didn’t know Anthony’s plan, but he didn’t know mine either...yes I was going to marry him, and take everything from him...his money, his home, and in time his life...then the Caparini Family would be done once and for all.
DET.SCOTT- “Well I think your plan has failed Marlana...
DANA / MARLANA - “No, it will still happen....!!!
She yells at him as she lunges towards him.
NOAH- “You spoke to Fallon? I thought she was in...”
DET. SCOTT- “She returned this morning after we contacted her about her mother. So were you and Mrs. Caparini, or at that time, Mrs. Bachelor involved in a sexual relationship.”
NOAH- “Yes.”
DET. SCOTT- “And how did it end?”
NOAH- “I ended it. It wasn’t like we were romantically involved, it was purely a sexual relationship. I stopped it because I had met someone, and didn’t want that to hinder any possibility of me and Fallon...”
DET. SCOTT- “Oh, so you were involved with her daughter as well?”
NOAH- “No, not really, we had just started talking to one another, and I had no idea that Karen was her mother.”
DET. SCOTT- “and were you angry with the deceased after the two of you parted ways?”
NOAH- “Not really, I just wanted it over, but I was upset after I found out that Fallon and her were mother and daughter, but not at either of them, but at myself for allowing myself to get involved with Karen in the first place.”
DET. SCOTT- “So in your opinion, would you say that Fallon and her mother had a volatile relationship?”
NOAH- “Volatile is a harsh word, but their relationship was very strained.”
DET. SCOTT- “Did Fallon like her mother?”
NOAH- “I am sure she loved her mother, but she had a lot of ill feelings towards her due to how she was raised....but if you are insinuating that Fallon could have killed her mother...NO! There is no way.
DET. SCOTT- “Thanks Noah, if I have any further questions, I will contact you, and if there is anything...anything what so ever that you may recall, here is my card, please call me.”
ANTHONY- “If you have any further questions, Detective, you may contact my attorney...Good day, and could you please get back out there and find out who killed my wife?”
