Her hand swings elder’s arm between them with an easy smile— if a child like her should be allowed hang around a forest like this one is debatable ( but if you should do something has never stopped you from going through with things, so ). It’s not like she’s alone anyways, so it’s fine...then again, that might be exactly why she’s not being left to her own devices. Although Naoto don’t seem like the most openly, uhm...engaged, maybe it’s just the situation. You can’t really blame anyone for being less than cheerful at a time like this; so perhaps that’s why child is being more enthusiastic even by her normal standards.
“I saw birds flying this-a-ways earlier, so maybe we’ll find those bird feathers that we’re lookin’ for over here too?” Words are accompanied with a happy hum— clearly, there’s a certain bias of hers at play here. But is she wrong in thinking that maybe finding something here might at least help the other’s mood a little? Ahiru doesn’t expect much from them, but at least she’d like to see if she can get them to smile a little amidst all this darkness; like the faint glow of magic that she possesses here. “...I guess if not, we could always ask.” Ask who, you ask? The birds, of course!
