hi, i hope it's okay to ask this, what do vertical and horizontal investment refer to?

yeah ofc it's okay! basically

vertical investment: focusing on making a few units very strong. so for genshin stuff like getting character constellations, their signature weapons, maybe even C6R5, triple crowning, the best artifacts, building supports specifically for them, etc.

horizontal investment: focusing on building a bunch of units even if only to mediocrity. so like leveling everyone to at least 70+, only focusing on some talents, giving everyone artifacts even if they're not that great, etc. you might not have the strongest characters ever but everyone is usable

the spiral abyss is well suited for vertical investment bc ultimately you just need two sides that hit really hard

As the detective sea pancake, the ray fact made me very happy. can I ask for something cursed on manta rays?

when manta rays are actively feeding, they use the cephalic fins on their faces to funnel water directly into their mouths!

but when mantas aren’t feeding and are just trying to fast-travel to the next plankton hotspot, they curl these fins up tight like a grandma getting her hair permed! this reduces drag on the manta ray’s face and lets them go faster and further for less energy.

this also brings up some interesting questions about the possible drag coefficient of hair curlers.

@detectiveseapancake​ @rovelae​ You’re both very sweet for worrying about the potential workload, thank you! Burnout is definitely a very common factor from translation work, and from writing in general.

It is a lot of work for one person, especially as a free project. Not only does it involve directly translating the game, but also transcribing all of the text ahead of time to make it easier to translate, plus formatting the doc afterwards to make it easier for people to read and matching it up with various sprites and CGs. Ndrv3 is also much, much longer than either of the previous two games in the series, with just the trials alone taking anywhere from 4-6 hours each, even going at a steady pace through the dialogue and puzzles.

I still have irl obligations plus other projects I’m working on, so progress would probably be quite slow at first. But if people don’t mind the wait and are willing to be patient, I would be more than happy to start translating the rest of the game from chapter 3 and onward! It would mostly just be a translation for fun, to share with others who might want to see more of the translation differences, so as long as people don’t mind the more relaxed pace I think I could find the motivation to keep gonig with it!
