kane walked through the hallways of the building which had been repurposed for a school. sometimes when he was in school himself he used to daydream about what it would be like to live a normal life. where the world hadn't ended and he could just be a normal person who didn't have to fight to survive. he'd always ask his mom about stories from before the outbreak and his spiderman comics helped him with some idea of what the world was like before. he'd trade in clickers and runners any day for super human powers and extra terrestrial villains. the qz might have made the whole survival thing easier but he often had his doubts.
he'd come to the school to pick elise up after her shift, it was his way of surprising her. since the other night he spent with her in his room, he just wanted to do something for her, to show her this was real and they were really back together. "hey there you are --" he said to the blonde coming up from behind her. his dark gaze met hers and the smile that appeared on his lips shared with her how happy he was to be in her presence. "do you still need help packing up, or are you ready to go?"
