Tord x reader - college au ❤️

You hadn’t gone to university expecting it to be easy, but you definitely weren’t prepared for this.

Even though you were just in your first year, you were already swamped with work. You studied near constantly, and when you weren’t studying, you felt too exhausted to do much else. You had no time for friends or love. You needed to do well in your classes.

So as you trekked back to the library after flunking one of your exams, you began to feel a bit discouraged. You found yourself beginning to ask, what was it all for? All those hours of revising, taking notes, staying up late, living off of coffee and ramen, just to fail. It all seemed a little depressing to you, not even mentioning the absurd amount of money you were paying to go here.

You sit down at one of the larger desks in the library, one that’s meant for a group to study at. You needed all the room you could get for your loads of books. You open your laptop and get straight to work; You have no time for fooling around now (not that you ever did).

After an hour or so of sweet, uninterrupted focus, a voice at your side breaks you from your concentration.

“Er, excuse me, do you mind if I sit here?”

You perk your head up, a little annoyed that someone would interrupt your obviously intense study session. You recognize the man talking to you. He’s in the class you’re studying for, actually, and you recall finding yourself staring at him for a little too long when you should’ve been paying attention. Now that you think about it, maybe that’s why you failed this exam. The truth is, he’s strikingly handsome, and you wouldn’t hate if he sat next to you.

“No, go ahead.” You smile at him and gesture next to you.

He smiles back and sits down at your side. “You’re Y/N, right?”

“Yeah, that’s right.” Shit, you don’t even know his name. “Uh, I’m sorry, I don’t think I ever caught your name,” you stutter out, a little embarrassed that you don’t even really know who he is.

Thankfully, he laughs it off. “It’s Tord.” And damn, his laugh is cute. His accent isn’t from around here, either; It makes you want to hear him talk even more.

You realize you’re getting distracted by this guy. You turn your attention back to your laptop and scribbling down notes that look a bit like chicken scratch to an untrained eye.

“Hey, isn’t this the work for our shared class?” Tord asks you.

You nod, not even bothering to look up from your work. “Mhm.”

“How did you do on our last exam?”

You pause your writing and suck air in through your teeth. “Oh, um… I don’t know. I probably shouldn’t say.”

“Oh, come on,” Tord responds playfully. “You’re very smart, no? I bet you did well.”

You wonder to yourself how Tord would possibly know whether you’re smart or not, when you’ve barely interacted with him. You look back at him and sigh, “Yeah, no, I totally bombed it.” You can’t help but smile in pity at yourself.

“Ah.” He raises his eyebrows, as if he’s surprised. “Well, erm, it was a hard test, wasn’t it? Don’t worry too much about it, eh?”

You chuckle. Even if he’s just being polite, it still makes you feel a little better. “How did you do, Tord?”

“I aced it.” He smiles smugly, before jumping in to add, “But it was probably just good luck. I mean, I guessed on, like, half the questions.” You just laugh again at this.

Looking at Tord, you notice he doesn’t have any study materials with him. Come to think of it, why would he need to study if he aced the exam? “Tord, I don’t mean to sound rude, but why exactly did you come here?”

He looks a bit taken aback for a moment. That must’ve caught him off guard. “O-oh, well, I was here to research, but I noticed you and thought I might try to help out a little, you know?” He rests his elbow on the table, trying (and failing) to look smooth.

You look around the library. It’s the weekend, and the usually full building is mostly empty, save for a few stragglers like yourself. You feel like there’s something up with this guy, but you’re not complaining if a hot guy wants to sit next to you and help you study. Honestly, it feels like something you might’ve needed.

You flip back through your notes, landing on a page you’d particularly struggled on. “Can you help me with this concept? I’ve been really struggling to understand it.”

Tord’s face lights up as he looks over it. “Yes, absolutely! This was actually one of my favorite lessons.” He launches into a full explanation of it, going over things a bit too quickly for you to understand. When he notices how confused you look, he apologizes. “Sorry. I’ll, uh, slow it down for you.” He laughs softly.

You spend the rest of your study sesh going over everything you’ve been confused about with Tord. To your delight, he goes into the material in great detail, and by the end, you feel like you understand things much better. He actually seems really passionate about this class. It’s a bit endearing.

Eventually, you realize you’ve spent almost your entire afternoon studying, and you’re getting a bit hungry for dinner. You start packing your things up. “I’d better start heading out now. I can’t learn too well on an empty stomach.”

“Ah, right, me too,” Tord replies, and you swear you can hear a bit of disappointment in his voice. As you start to stand up and leave, he calls after you. “Would you, maybe, like to study together again sometime?”

You raise an eyebrow at him. You’d never really given much thought to the idea of a study partner before.

“I just thought, you know, we could go over new material together. Help each other out, right?” Tord gives you a nervous smile.

He had helped you a lot. Plus, you’d found that you actually quite enjoyed his company. Maybe you shouldn’t be totally antisocial anymore. “Sure, that sounds nice,” you reply, and Tord sighs with relief.

“Good! Let me give you my phone number.” He grabs a spare piece of paper, scribbles something down on it, and rips it off. He hands the note to you. “Just for studying together,” he adds, rubbing the back of his neck.

You chuckle and take it from him. “Thanks for your help today, Tord.”

He nods. “It’s no problem. Let me know if you need anything else.”

You say goodbye and exit the library, thinking about how love doesn’t sound like such a bad idea now.

Tord fucked up, he REALLY fucked up. Not only did his mistake cause him to lose his friends (except tom, they were never friends) but it also caused him to lose you. How could he let that happen? You were so amazing and so so pretty…and things were going well between you two..he was so close then he had to go and fuck it all up.

“Jeg er så dum.”

He muttered to himself before stepping into the bar, the bell ringing and announcing his arrival. It was a calm night, it was a dive bar after all. So he got a seat at the counter and waited for the bartender to come over with his head down.

Eventually the footsteps of the bartender came closer until it stopped right in front of him

“How can I help you, sir?”

His breath hitched and his eyes widen, holy shit. No way. He snapped his head up to look at you

“Y/n?”

You looked equally surprised as you stared him down eyes slowly turning narrow.

“Tord.”

He cleared his throat awkwardly.

“Long time no see, vakker.”

You scoffed and rolled your eyes. “Just give me your order.”

“Whiskey.”

You sighed and went off to fetch his whiskey..

And after a few whiskey’s Tord became more bubbly and openly flirty.

“You’re so beautiful y/n.”

You handed over his 5th cup of whiskey

“Thanks…”

“You know I don’t speak Norwegian.”

He whined at your reply and looked at you with a pout.

“det var alltid deg…det var alltid deg.”

Yeah, you had no idea what he was saying.

Nevertheless had to admit you still had a soft spot for him. He was so sweet to you, always whispering compliments to you and helping you out when you needed it.

It’s hard to act like all of those things didn’t happen between you two..he’s always been a flirt.

“Do you have a ride tonight?”

He looked up at you.

“No..”

You sighed.

“Order an uber, you’re way too drunk.”

He started to panic and almost cry.

“No! I haven’t seen you in so long, please don’t do this y/n..”

“You still have my number don’t you? We can call in the morning.”

He looked up at you with the cutest yet most pathetic stare ever. he looked so sad and you were eating it up. Because in all honesty, he looked so good with those little tears threatening to spill from his eyes along with that pout on his lips and that blush he had from drinking.

“You promise?”

He broke you out of your train of thought with wobbly words. Fuck.

“I promise.”

You thought he was done begging until he held out his pinky. You were ashamed of how quickly you wrapped your pinky around his.

“Let’s get you a ride, yeah?”
