sometimes I think about how Ishmael and Queequeg are like my favorite fictional couple bc they capture a certain loving intimacy that goes past the standard romance

they're very gentle and adoring of one another in a way that's very obvious to the audience and it's clear that they're more than just 2 characters in a relationship

they're people who became friends, and those friends happened to love each other in a way that's heartachingly intense, to the point of quiet romance

like you can imagine how they'd act around one another based off of the flashbacks they got of eachother, and even despite all the years that went by, Ishmael treats Queequeg so delicately

bc she has the intimacy of knowing her

you don't need the kiss they were likely robbed of in Queequeg's last moments bc you know they love each other

you can tell that they spent time dreaming about their sailing boat

you can tell that they likely spent time softly talking before they fell asleep

you can tell that they adore each other bc they're people

ishmael but she's gotten older. her journey and ship has led away from the compass that originally guided her, but she still crosses paths with these strangers who she'd once known

ishmael who's cut her hair once more, since it bothered her too much to keep around

ishmael who bought a small boat and keeps it running alone, fishing and making a quiet living

ishmael who still ties her ropes the same way her lover did, and will sometimes teach it to others when she notices their own struggles with them

ishmael who finds comfort in her own rough and scarred hands, weathered now by age

ishmael who watches the sunset every evening, no longer burdened by the loss of queequeg

ishmael, who remains cozy and loving, despite no longer being in a pair.

ishmael who's accepted the loss of queequeg, and still loves her—but is no longer burdened by her grief

listening to starchild from ghost quartet and thinking about Rodion bc she's such an emotionally loaded character and i think abt her a lot

there's such a specific flavor of burnout gifted kid syndrome that she like. both does and doesn't have (chat me fr)

especially surrounding her general view of herself and how she handles things

she wants to change things and she's tried and yet it's all been pointless and she feels helpless and she's holding it together w/ a facade that's gonna slip

part of me wonders if she's gonna 'join' the other side for awhile/'betray' the sinners solely to do a lil' backstabbing, in similar fashion to like. raskolnikov

but who knows lmfao

thinking abt Pandora as just. a character

and a concept

for Limbus!

Pandora stands as like. a damning piece of humanity in generally all versions of the myth, either through cunning or bc she's way too curious for her own good (I dont like the latter)

she's made to spite prometheus and made to spite humanity! she's meant to be artificial, in a sense!! and I'm just thinking personality-wise that she's like. almost donqui-esque??? I want her to clearly have clarity behind her decisions and actions but to otherwise like. idk. CHOOSE to be clueless for the sake of her own sanity

like maybe she knows what's happened. maybe she's SEEN what's inside her box/jar. maybe she's got a silly facade she's using and that facade is the evil covering up a beaten-down piece of hope!!!

if it's not a facade, then I want like. a loss of innocence over time tbh

clueless + lighthearted + sweet -> jaded + cunning + borderline cruel??? maybe not???? I'd like to think that she wouldn't betray others at the drop of a hat Outis-style but she's like. idk I do think she's driven by a singular goal and that goal takes single highest priority over those she surrounds herself with (read: fucking prometheus up)

and unlike Ishmael goal I want her to actually go through with it! not necessarily out of obsession but like. out of duty or smthn
