Airbase Leeuwarden is the first airbase in the Netherlands where the F35 Lightning II is stationed. Together with the F16s from this base they participated in the exercise Deviant Dragon. Five countries participated in this exercise and flew over the North Sea and the north of the Netherlands. There was impact from home on all participants related to covid. This exercise replaced the major exercise FrisianFlag that was supposed to be held around this time.
