The Devil Forger is based on Castlevania: Curse of Darkness’ gameplay of the Devil Forger Master Hector. The class is an alternative to having using Warlock in a sense. Getting all simple weapons, 2 martial weapons of their choice, as well as light and medium armor they can cover various areas of combat, also some cantrips from warlock’s list, lastly they get the the ability to forge magically, allowing them to create weapons and items as well as upgrading them. The Innocent Devil document is long by most of it is the images.
Now it wouldn’t be Castlevania: CoD without the Innocent Devils (ID)! The forger themself is very weak actually, but makes up for it with their Devils, which join them at 2nd level, and they can have one active at a time. The forger gets to pick any of the 5 devil types to start with an egg of, and can get more from the DM. The Devils types are Fairy for healing, Battle for combat, Crow for support, Mage for power and support, and Devil for utility and combat. It should be important to pick an ID to fill in a missing roll for the party. The ID will always share a level with the player who controls it, this is player level not Forger level, gaining health as they level, but they only gain new powers and evolve based on the players level in the class. IDs also regain Hit Points over time in combat, but this is due to their special abilities cost health to use.
Lastly the Devil Forger comes with 4 archetypes, focusing on the 4 aspects of the class, the Dueter which focuses on combat alongside the ID, the Dark Commander who focuses on the use of IDs and commanding 2 at a time, the Dark Occultist that gets access to full magic, and the Hell’s Armorer whom plays a much more passive role by focusing on the forging aspect of the class.
If you are looking to feel more like the Forge Master in Castlevania: The Animated Series take a look at Pact of the Forger for Warlock, it is a pact boon not a patron.
