since casim and most devils can control their physical form a lot, couldn't casim technically eat however he wanted and still maintain the form he desires? or are the limitations to this within your story?
not that im questioning your logic or or whatever but I am just curious about how far the bounds go with his shapeshifting
honestly I was already ehhh-ing this when I wrote it because I knew it sounded like they can shapeshift, but that's not really the case. So yes its more complex than this!
It's not that devils shapeshift or choose how they look freely at all (if need be they do use illusion magic, something the incubi/succubi specifically are known for) but rather that Devils can suppress bodily functions/biological processes for a good amount of time, which hair growth is part of. So its basically that devils can shut down various functions of their body (e.g. literally breathing as well) and stopping body hair growth is just a.... very vain way to utilize this lol
Aside from this, if devils do want something changed about their physical form thereâs usually one way or another to do that in the hellsâŠ. the big HOWEVER with this is that itâs very noticeable to other devils when ones physical form does not fully match the energy they are made up of. It's comparable to another thing where some devils are reborn after a death on a different plane and, as punishment, mutilated by their masters as their physical form is remade in the fires of the Hells. Devils can tell they were "not like this before" so it's just not a common thing, especially when you consider, on top of that, that most devils change their entire physiology just by rising through the devil hierachy and that lesser devils are not even granted the privilege of having a more "human looking" form/a sovereign aspect (this parts on the Cas lore page if you wanna know) so they care very little about looks
Beyond this though, about Cas' eating habits, I think I talked about it a little before but the thing with it is that Cas did not eat until he was exiled, because devils do not have to eat (they draw their energy from the Nine Hells themselves as they are creatures made up of magical energy). Devils DO eat but simply as an act of hedonistic pleasure. So this was a habit that he was forced to take up to supplement that he is stuck on the material plane where he can simply not get all required energy from the plane itself. Still, he eats WAY less than a mortal would need but you can imagine how this + how eating is viewed or done by devils affects his views
