[[So I’m still really m e h over Valiksis right now so... Idk if this is gonna be it for her or not but it’s a start I guess.]]
She had to keep telling herself that she chose to go on this mission.
Valiksis cursed under her breath, Ether hissing out of a breach on her helmet. It was the only noise, save for her ragged breathing. She sat against a wall in a closed off room of an old human building, the door barred just in case. Devils, ruthless as always but... she'd always been lucky and any trouble she'd gotten into had been escaped with minimal injury. She enjoyed that she was doing her part as a scout but... right now all she could do was think about how screwed she was.
She'd been part of a small platoon of scouts, spread across a wide area to spy on the Devils. She was given one partner and whatever weapons she wished to carry, as well as a communications device, but only for short range transmissions. With a primary hand covering the nasty wound in her side from a scrape against a small patrol of Devils. She'd been caught unaware and just barely escaped with her life but that luck was soon running out.
She shifted, grimacing and whining in pain when the movement disturbed her wound as she reached for her communications device. She was feeling light-headed now, and knew why when she saw the pool of her blood on the floor. She could also her heavy footsteps and angry growling. If they were smart, they were likely following the trail of blood she left. Which meant she had little time.
She pressed a button on her device, trying to keep the fear out of her voice.
"If anyone hears this, I'm sorry." She failed to keep the pain out of her voice, though. "I wasn't careful enough. My partner and I were caught by a patrol of devils, he gave his life to let me escape and it seems like it was in vain." She paused, looking up when the talking outside became louder, more alert. More angry.
She couldn't keep her terrified gasp down, her voice cracking into a sob. "They're going to find me, I've lost so much blood and I can't move. Whoever gets this, tell Sevoriks I'm sorry, I wasn't strong enough... Kinsis, watch over my babies for me-"
She was interrupted, gasping in terror when the door that kept her attackers at bay was hit. The wood splintered and creaked against the weight. She was scared, she didn't want to die, but... A second crash snapped her out of her daze, and her shaking hands clenched her device harder, unable to hide the shaking of her voice, the absolute fear she felt.
These were her last moments.
"Sirhis! I... I... I love-" The last crash drowned the rest of her words. A crash signaled the device being dropped, an angered roar echoed through. The next sound was the sound of shock blades being activated. There was a strangled cry as she was grabbed by her cloak, and her cry turned into heavy gasping as two swords were plunged into her chest, cutting through armor, slicing through skin, muscle and bone like she was nothing.
The last few seconds of her transmission was the thud of her body hitting the ground, and the sigh of her very last breath.
