The Ghost phased into view, almost frowning at the Guardian, “You don’t normally shy away from scouts.”

As the last of the corpses and Interceptors were loaded up, and the tank carrying Harvester took off, Drexod climbed up the loading ramp of the Aries Ascendant.

“Got a date,” he drawled, “Yeah, yeah, I’ll explain later.”

A shower and change of clothes later, the Hunter found himself at the co-ordinates Selene had sent him. rapping on the door, he took half a step back and admired the architecture.

Nemeth New Year

    Roman filled a glass of the green liquid then piled in some ice before heading out of the kitchen to the living room. “Alright, witch’s brew is made, snacks are cooking, and the kids....where are the kids again?”

     Most people threw a fit over the sweeter drinks, saying they were girly or a lame choice, but Roman found himself a huge fan. Something that tasted good and fucked him up? Sounded like his wife. “You called them, right? What did they say again?”

☂: An umbrella!! It’s raining and it’s cold and Selene knew it would affect the other—even though Drex said it wouldn’t, she knew it did. The umbrella was a bit smaller than the thought, so she had to stand a little closer to him, as well as loft it higher from hitting his head. A blush never left her face. “You’ll catch a cold, nerd.”

Drexod thought for a moment about stepping out and proving her wrong. He could easily increases his temperature to the point where the rain would boil on impact with his skin, but he decided against that.

“Fine. Where’re we going anyway?” He asked, dipping his head slightly to stay under the shelter before noting, “You’re blushing.”

The firebase sat behind the bulk of the Cabal front lines and was mostly unknown of by the Vanguard. Drexod however, knew the base as ‘next’,

The endless stream of Vex throwing themselves at Cabal lines had left the stretched forces exhausted and he had launched his own campaign up to eleven.

The fortified structure was a key point for the Empire, communications ran through and troops were deployed with resources to various sections of trenches outposts.

“You know what,” Drexod drawled to himself and his Ghost as he sat on the sand scarred metal, “Time to call in the cavalry.”

[USER: DREXOD: Hey Selene. It’s Drexod. You’ll find a set of co-ordinates for Mars embedded in the message. Come asap. You’ll either need to fly in real low or HALO it in. I’d recommend HALO jumping. Bring guns. I’ll contact you again on landfall.]

With a smile, he leaned back and thought things over. The detachment manning the outpost were mostly cut off from supply lines further back. There would be no reinforcements for these poor soldiers.

Clicking his tongue idly, he waited, checking and double checking code and logistics before coming to his conclusion: today would be a good day.

Healing

     Time had been moving slow. What felt like three months was only one, and Roman needed to get out of the house. Finally, he was capable of walking on his own with a slight limp and some aches, which made Selene force him to use a cane. He didn’t mind as much considering she got him an amazingly customized cane that even had a blade hidden inside. Other than his legs, the man still donned a few bandages here and there, mainly around his ribs and forehead. It was the most damage to him and the Darkness truly took a lot longer to recover from.

    Nonetheless, his love was healed. The scar that once branded her was gone, and what better way to get them both out of the house than to take her shopping. Roman sat in the passenger seat of their vehicle, cane between his legs, while the huntress drove them to the Last City. She asked him over and over if he was sure that he was well enough to go only making him overjoyed when she finally agreed to it all. 

     “As nice as Sanctuary is with the big forest and everything...it is nice to have a change of scenery,” the man hummed, eyes trailing over the buildings that stood beside the road, stretching high above. “Can’t wait to stretch me legs.”
