Los amigos de Extreme-Box organizaron un seminario de overclocking en el que, junto a ASUS e INTEL, probaron la performance de las placas de video y motherboards Republic of Gaming de ASUS además de los Core i7 de Intel: Devil’s Canyon.

El evento se realizó este mes de Julio y estuvieron Pablo Oliveira, el Product Manager de Placas de Video y Fabio Selvaggio, Marketing Manager, ambos de ASUS Argentina, quienes fueron los responsables de la exposición sobre los Motherboards Serie 9 lanzados en el mes de mayo.

Continuamos avanzando en nuestra estrategia de fortalecer nuestra relación con Intel y es por eso que acompañamos al equipo de overclocking de Extremebox que realizó en exclusiva, los primeros testeos de los nuevos CPUs Core i7 y Pentium pertenecientes a la nueva generación, los cuales acompañados de nuestro motherboard ROG Maximus VI Extreme, lograron en poco tiempo una frecuencia máxima de 5.7 Ghz bajo nitrógeno líquido, Pablo Oliveira, PM de ASUS Argentina.

Intel’s newest Core i7 processor, code-named Devils Canyon, runs at 4 gigahertz under standard conditions. But overclockers at the Computex trade show in Taiwan have pushed the chip to a new world record speed of 5.5 gigahertz.

Overclocking means that you run a microprocessor for a PC at a faster speed than specified. That runs the risk of melting down the chip and ruining the computer, but it also gives people like gamers the maximum performance out of their machines. Using air and liquid cooling, the competitors in Taiwan pushed all four cores, or computing brains, on the Devils Canyon chip to more than 5.5 gigahertz.

The new chip will go into all sorts of new PCs, including all-in-ones, mini-PCs, and desktop computers. Kirk Skaugen, senior vice president and general manager of the PC Client Group, encouraged the enthusiast fans to beat the record on stage during his keynote speech.

To stoke the hobbyists, Intel announced its new Intel Pentium Processor Anniversary Edition, an “unlocked” version of its 20-year-old desktop processor that overclockers can play with all they want. It will be available in volume production later this month.
