Hey guys! So last night for the full moon I finally did a devotion ritual for Hestia!
I baked her some cookies, took a ritual bath, got the ambience right in my room by lighting candles and incense and playing a "magical tea room" asmr video on my computer. It had a fire burning in the background, light sounds of spoons clinking on tea cups, tea being poured and barely audible voices chatting.
I started off by offering her the cookies and some coffee. I had a tiny bottle of Baileys Irish cream I had been saving for a special occasion (it's my favorite). So I poured that into the coffee as well.
I sat with her and talked for awhile, wrote her a letter in my devotional journal and read it aloud to her. It explained how much I appreciate her presence in my life and all that she's taught me and why I would like to become her devotee.
Then I pulled some cards to get her thoughts on the matter. I asked if she was here with me, if she approved of my decision, what she expects from me as a devotee, how I can best serve her, what is the biggest challenge she will help me with, and I asked for her to pick a signifier card for me and for her. I'll summarize the gist of the answers:
Yes, she was there with me and listening.
Yes, she approved. She recognizes the hard work and passion I have put into my worship of her.
She expects me to take care of myself and to face my fears and share my wisdom with others.
I can best serve her by building good relationships in my own life, being compassionate and loving towards others and encouraging the same behavior.
My biggest challenge that she will help me with is learning to trust and helping my goals come to fruition.
The signifier she gave to me was The Star. Which represents healing, transformation, personal truth, spirituality, both intuition and practicality. It also resembles Aquarius, which is my sun sign.
For herself she picked The Hermit. Which represents wisdom, self reflection, guidance, growth, etc.
I was so pleased with her answers! Afterwards I sat and meditated with her for a bit and just enjoyed my coffee. :)
I should also mention that I associate Hestia with domestic animals and specifically cats. Throughout the ritual my cat sat with me and watched, purring. At one point during the meditation she reached her paw out and touched my face lovingly. It was so sweet and felt like a gift from Hestia. 😍
