prompt: Running with the devil ft. @softmary ‘cuz they my precious lil’ baby friend and I love drawing them! Devils name is Devrex
Expansion of the Beasts
In the shadow of the 13th Black Crusade, there has been a much greater threat posed by the radical forces of Chaos and the Imperium at large. To improve the potential longevity of the Everchosen’s Domain, the necessity of border expansion has been recognised. Unlike the T’au, who expand into the Imperium’s space, the eye of the system have been directed to borders of Imperial Space, specifically the Halo Zone.
The Halo Zone
Located at the border space of Segmentum Pacificus, it proved to be the ultimate cause of the end of the Macharian Crusade because of the near non existent light of the Astronomican. This loss of the Astronomican or any other psychic beacon makes the travel within and beyond this region of space mostly blind and near impossible without any risks.
Rumours do exist as to whether the Necrons explored this region before or during their wars with the Old Ones, though with how uncooperative any necron found has acted it is unsure if this can be confirmed. This also extends to humans during the Great Crusade and during the Golden Age with how ambitious they were during this time but with equally inconclusive answers.
Methods of Preparation
So far, there has been no travel into the Halo Zone. Instead Kallig, wishing to ensure that any efforts into the Zone aren’t wasted, has driven his focus to preparations and dealing with current threats.
Uncharacteristically, rituals have been used extensively to get the vaguest glimpse into the Halo Zone. Not only have these rituals been costly in man power, with at least half of the participants suffering during and after the process, but they appear to have also gained unwanted attention from the Forces of Chaos resulting in increased raids and cult developments. Despite this, Truzkuth’s methods have proven vital for locating the systems just beyond the Astronomican.
From a technological front, Vowrawn has guided the development of an exploratory fleet manufactured from new and old technology granted by the Primas Artifices. Lost, Abandoned or otherwise vulnerable Explorator Fleet remains have proven ideal in salvaging the components composulary for these ‘Pioneer Frigates’ to remain self sufficient for the longer periods of time expected.
Patriarch Isajor
“These losses to the Psychic Citadel's members are proving unsustainable, we are going to need another source of shamans in light of this. I am also uncomfortable with the use of the Crow’s Aetherborn.”
Patriarch Devrex
“We already hold leverage over the systems border our own, there are few reasons not to expand this domain into these worlds. All I need is the word and I can have preachers converting the population and have the world all but ours.”
Master Vowrawn
“While I know this fleet will function beyond my potential command, there is still something to be proud of in managing such a monumental task for our small corner of the galaxy.”

Old Equipment
Hotshot Lasgun
Visibly modified Lasgun, based on the Mk 4 pattern lasrifle. Along with a bayonet housing which partially mounts into the main casing of the rifle, the attachment of underslung weapons of questionable authorisation is also possible within this housing. Beyond that there is only a large quantity of tallys signifying completed missions and confirmed kill counts.
Catachan Power Sword
Aside from a small aquila pendant bonded to the pommel of the blade, there is little distinguishing the Devil Claw from others of its make.
Striped Down Carapace Armour
Inline with other warriors of Catachan, the armour has been stripped down to reduce costs of maintenance and bulk when traveling through jungle environments. The only unique aspect of Devrex’s armour is that he maintained a near complete piece of torso armour. Some pieces are also those from Flak armour, but these have likely been forgotten to be replaced or were never needed.
New Equipment
The Hound’s Honour
From a functional view, the claidheamh-mòr sized power weapon is exactly what it appears as. Only upon further inspection does the detail of the forging come to light. Scripture of devotion and honour trail up the fuller with the blade itself sourced from a hound headed crossguard.
While more suited to ceremonial functions this blade has been used within the Great Arena as well as on the battlefield, with the later when it was still wielded by one of the Knights. The blade itself has even drawn the blood of the Everchosen and marked the one time that Devrex was able to best Kallig in battle.
Faith’s Shield
This ceremonial piece is intended wholly for the use in the public eye, with the large decals and etched symbols showing this function. The brass armour bares the icons of the Church with great fervor alongside the runes carved in by the more ethereal forger. When the rune marked over the wearers heart is traced out, the armour is able to glow with a fiery aura and is used to mark the start of major competitions.
