DeVry Advantage High School and Champions for Kids are working hard to educate and serve their community in the fight against hunger!
The students wanted to hold an event that not only directly addressed issues of hunger through donations, but an event that would serve in educating the student body about hunger in their neighborhood as well as across the world. The students created an after-school event they dubbed the Hunger Games.
They decided that during the Hunger Games event, students could earn their “district” points by donating food and by competing in a sports tournament. To create excitement throughout the student body, the club members created costumes to wear on the day of the event. To ensure that their message concerning hunger was not overshadowed by the hype of the event, they decided to include a trivia portion of the tournament where teams could gain points by answering questions about hunger.
