Buddha Amitabha reside en la Tierra Pura del Oeste llamada Dewachen en tibetano o Sukhavati en sánscrito, cuyo significado es Gran Gozo. Esta Tierra Pura es uno de los paraísos mas famosos en el budismo Mahayana y muchos practicantes aspiran a renacer en él si es que no pueden alcanzar la iluminación en este vida, puesto que en la Tierra Pura no existe el sufrimiento y puede practicarse plenamente el Dharma para poder alcanzar así la iluminación definitiva y poder ayudar a todos los seres sintientes. Buddha Amitabha es el Dhyani Buddha de la familia Padma que representa al deseo y al apego, por cuya sabiduría pueden ser transformados en compasión. Que pronto todos los seres puedan ser liberados del sufrimiento y sus causas y que puedan todos renacer en Dewachen!
