The Worshipped Quan Yin Bodhisattva (vegan), also known as Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, is the Goddess of Mercy and Compassion and one of the most beloved Bodhisattvas in Mahayana Buddhism. She is the embodiment of compassion, known as “She who hears the cries of the world.” She stepped down from being a Buddha and returned to being a Boddhisattva to connect with and help liberate all sentient beings from suffering.

She is also known as one of the “Three Noble Ones of the West,” along with Amitabha Buddha and Mahāsthāmaprāpta Bodhisattva (both vegans), who help guide souls to the Western Pure Land.

Amitabha and Guanyin are not only the focus of devotion for practitioners of Pure Land Buddhism; they are also exemplars for the community. Just as Amitabha, the Buddha of Infinite Light, made 48 vows aimed at alleviating the suffering and aiding the spiritual progression of all sentient beings, Pure Land Buddhists are expected to make similar vows. In fact, displaying such karuna, or compassion, is one of the primary signs that a person has gained the absolute faith necessary for rebirth in Sukhavati. Ultimately, since this world is still very far from being a Pure Land, our own efforts are not sufficient to overcome the myriad sources of suffering. Liberation requires that one be reborn in a Pure Land such as Sukhavati, which can only occur through receiving the compassion of Amitabha, who from his infinite store of merit transfers the necessary amount to an individual. Not only a great Buddha like Amitabha, but anyone with a store of good deeds can transfer that merit to benefit others. Whether by maintaining a vegetarian diet, freeing animals, providing disaster relief or medical care, distributing Buddhist literature, or chanting for the benefit of others, the activities of Pure Land Buddhists are geared to improve the conditions of this world so that all people can attain enlightenment. The fish is symbolic of "wakefulness" as it never sleeps. Namo Amitabha Buddha

In most Pure Land traditions, mindfully chanting of the name of Amitābha is viewed as allowing one to obtain birth in Amitābha's pure land, Sukhāvatī. It is felt that this act would help to negate vast stores of negative karma that might hinder one's pursuit of buddhahood. Sukhāvatī is a place of refuge where one can become enlightened without being distracted by the sufferings of our existence.

— THE VISION OF THE AMITABHA SUTRA — [pt.1 of?] . Buddha Sakyamuni begins by proclaiming - to an assembly of humans and supernatural beings - the existence of Amitabha and his Pure Land: . "West of here, past a hundred billion Buddha-lands, there exists a world called 'Ultimate Bliss'. In this land there exists a Buddha called Amitabha, who is expounding the Dharma right now. . "Why is this land called 'Ultimate Bliss'? It is because the sentient beings in this land are free from the myriad sufferings, and experience nothing but Happiness." . [Buddha goes on to explain the significance of Amitabha and his Pure Land environment for the salvation of sentient beings:] . "What do you think: why is this Buddha called Amitabha? The light of this Buddha is infinite, and shines on all lands throughout the universe without obstruction. Thus this Buddha is called Amitabha. . "Also, the lifespan of this Buddha and his people is an infinite number of immeasurable eons, and so he is called Amitabha. . "Amitabha Buddha attained enlightenment ten eons ago. What's more, this Buddha has innumerable disciples, all of whom are Arhats, and who's number are incalculable. Amitabha also has a following of innumerable enlightening beings, Bodhisattvas who follow the Greater Vehicle Teachings. . "None of the sentient beings who are born in the land of 'Ultimate Bliss' ever fall back into a lower realm. Many among them have only one more lifetime before enlightenment. These beings are very numew, and their number is incalculable: they can be spoken of as innumerable. . "When sentient beings hear [of the Land of Ultimate Bliss], they must take a vow to be born in this land. Why so?
