🤍 “Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again.” Rebecca was quite a remarkable read for me. I loved the atmosphere of this book. It was deep, dark, mysterious. For me it was fascinating to be inside the head of the main character and perceive the world as she did. It created the right mood for this novel and helped us care about the events in the book. When I started this novel, I knew the main synopsis but tried to avoid any spoilers as much as possible. So while reading I wasn't even sure about this book genre and it helped a lot with additional tension, anticipation and nervousness. I think it's a good idea for me to leave it this way for you too. In my opinion, this book benefits from not knowing anything about it. Daphne Du Maurier is a master of prose for sure. She can write the novel the way it absorbs you completely and doesn't let you go till the final. I was engaged in reading from the very beginning and for me this book was truly a great page-turner. My final review is 8.5/10 for this novel. 📖 “Happiness is not a possession to be prized, it is a quality of thought, a state of mind.”
