this is amazing. what is it? some sort of customized desktop widget or app?

I use Rainmeter, which allows you to download skins for customizing your desktop!  In specific, I downloaded the Enigma theme, and what you see is my customized version of its Launcher toolbar.  The buttons are text-based, actually, and the hexagons you see are hexagon characters that I managed to find recently.  Cheers!
