I love Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin. I even love the movie, which no one liked but me. So imagine my surprise when I see Dex strolling by in my Gilmore Girls rewatch (S4, Episode 17 “Girls in Bikinis, Boys Doin’ the Twist”).

Headcanon: This was Dexter Thaler III as an undergrad. Awkward. Wowed by Rory and Paris’s dance floor kiss. Not yet grown into his good looks.

Book Review: *Spoiler Alert* I never thought that I would take the side of cheating but in this book I did. I loved Rachel. I related a lot to her character and I understood why she cheated. She was in love with the guy for ages and Darcy just got to him first. If that was me I would have been pissed off. Darcy as a character I hated. She was hardly a decent human being. She treated her best friend like shit. She had no regard for anybody else and in the book she was complaining about how she’ll never get to kiss anybody new again, and she has Dex. Then she goes an cheats on him with on of his friends and gets pregnant by him. I’m not surprised that she does cheat but it’s worse that what Rachel did. Then Darcy has the cheek to turn basically everyone against Rachel and Dex, including Rachel’s own parents. That pissed me off so badly. Dex was an alright character though. I didn’t love him and I didn’t really hate him. What made that decision for me was the fact that he didn’t call of the wedding until AGES. Until he realised what life without Rachel would be like. If I was Dex and I was in a relationship with a girl like Darcy I would have dumped her as soon as I realised that I liked a girl like Rachel. I always felt bad for Rachel too. She had to deal with her true love being couplely with a girl like Darcy who not only is self-centred but a show off. Overall I’ll give this book 9/10. It is a good book with a great storyline. The only thing is that the movie has one part that makes it that much better and that is that Darcy and Rachel meet in NY months later and talk. I hope that’s in Something Blue. I need to buy that book now, cause if I don’t, I don’t know if I ever will. This is definitely one of my favourite books.
