I noticed Mandark has a much more organic feel to his lab in the later seasons. Even though it’s basically a tangle of Evil Thorns it still has elements of nature and wildlife that Dexter’s never has.
Well, the hippie parent thing is a reboot season headcanon, so it is out of the blue, you can totally take it for OOC, so all of these arguments are near to invalid, but I do see more color in Mandark's season 1 lab, it's pretty tropical-looking, even the flamingo in the entrance.
You know? My first thought when I saw the thorn-looking lab and the hippie parent headcanon is that he sees himself as the evil sprout of nature, kinda like naked tree branches and thorns.
His lab is pretty random, and his inventions no longer look like technology, but more like a Poison Ivy trick of sorts.
I wonder if he read in his books that gazing at the moon is romantic, or if he genuinely finds it beautiful when he takes Dee Dee to see the moon from his lab window. His lastname, though, Astronomonov; he probably enjoys to gaze at the stars, and think of the mysteries of the galaxy, and the infinite knowledge. He's a fast learner, he seems to like to learn new things. Knowledge is power.

It makes sense that Flowertopia would be winterless so the flowers don’t die. I imagine nature would flourish year round there. ((Aaaaand hot tub, that’s all I’m going to say.)) Now I’m imagining a Mandark blanket burrito.
What would be of Flowertopia without flowers?
The hot tub is forever warm, plus it is water, his element. I can see old habits he can't let go of the place he was born. In Ego Trip, Executive Mandark's office has a long court with flamingos, and grass, and bushes and palm trees, all tropical-like.
You know? I don't think he hates nature, he just hates that his parents want him to conform to nature, and because it might be a natural opposite of science from his point of view.
Would you like salsa in your Mandark burrito?

Wow, what if they did a theatrical Dexter movie someday? *daydreams* that would be awesome. I’ve never heard Courage was prematurely canceled, it had 4 seasons…
I'm pretty sure Tim Mackenzie has been musing to do one for years, but he needs to polish the plot in my opinion. I can see it work with all the elements, but it's missing the Dexter feeling.
FlukesAndSpooks and I were talking about a story where Mandark's fate changes, and we're basing ourselves heavily on canon elements. It's funny and emotional because why not having both?

I never actually liked that last name for them, TBH! Too plain, I’ve always wondered what it came from. It wasn’t actually shown in FF, was it? He could be Dexter Dexter like in the Mario Bros. movie, haha.
McPhearson is used in FusionFall, and I don't like it neither.
LOL, Mario Mario and Luigi Mario. I was going to suggest Steven Stevens as an example.

((I don’t think it’s a FusionFall thing since I used to read fanfics wrote before it that used that surname. It’s more like someone invented it and everyone who read their stories took to be easier for them.)) ((Now that I think about it it might come from PPGD too, not sure))
I swore reading Dexter's lastname in that fanfic, I might have to look back, and if it is taken from there, then the "PPGD inspired FusionFall" rumor is somewhat true, if you add to the fact that the director of the FusionFall project did mention "People love to see cartoon characters in Manga style, and there are interpretations of Cartoon Network characters in that style out there" and he obviously meant PPGD.
