Regret Reminds Me Of You
Iieha Beautemps: "...Are you looking for Manda?"
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "What. Did you do with your hair."
Iieha Beautemps: "I got it cut! Might as well start off looking nice when I go back for my studies."
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "You said you wanted to look nice, but then you go and do that."
Iieha Beautemps: "Y-You don't think this looks nice? I always had my hair this short when I was young."
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "When you were young? Dragons don't have hair."
Iieha Beautemps: "Not....that far back."
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "You're going to have to explain that to me again. Mostly because I still don't believe you." Deyaenoux Bouchard: "But not today."
Iieha Beautemps: "Another time, yes that's fine."
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "There is some comfort in knowing you -did- deserve Witchdrop." Deyaenoux Bouchard: "At least I wasn't wrong."
Iieha Beautemps rolls her eyes lightly to Deyaenoux's comment. "Gee thanks."
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "It is as it be."
Iieha Beautemps: "Well, that's old news and in the past. This is now. I guess take that comfort in about being right?" She shrugs awkwardly.
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "Greatly."
Iieha Beautemps glances to the door behind him. "Uh...you can wait inside if you're looking for Manda. She'll be around. Unless you need something else?"
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "Mandalina and I are supposed to return to Ishgard. You don't suppose she's -delaying- that for any reason, do you."
Iieha Beautemps: "No....? We don't have our last opening until two days. Then it's over!"
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "Fury, it's as though every time I ask you add more and more days!"
Iieha Beautemps: "I said it wouldn't be until the last day of Moonfire faire! Maybe you weren't listening."
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "I don't know that festival."
Mandalina Elendil casually walks up. "Hello? What are we doing outside?"
Iieha Beautemps: "I should have clarified it a bit better than, I'm sorry. But it ends in two days."
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "Fury, Emmanellain is not going to like that haircut."
Iieha Beautemps: "What! But short hair is so cute!"
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "You look like a lad!"
Iieha Beautemps grins slowly.
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "...You too?!"
Mandalina Elendil: "Me too, what?"
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "Your hair!"
Mandalina Elendil turns her head to the side. The long hair is still there. I really like these bangs though, okay.
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "Fury, for a moment I thought you had cut your hair."
Mandalina Elendil: "Why would I do that? I like my hair."
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "Exactly! Evidently Iieha does not have the same sentiment."
Iieha Beautemps: "I think it's nice!"
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "You're wrong."
Iieha Beautemps sticks her tongue out. "My hair was getting too long anyways. I wasn't even taking care of it."
Mandalina Elendil: "What? I thing she looks nice. It's very mature."
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "Perchance if you were lady-like you would be more responsible for your person and appearance." Deyaenoux Bouchard: "That's not the point. Emmanellain has longer hair than she now!"
Mandalina Elendil: "My brothers say the style is very popular in Sharlayan. Oh! That reminds me! Iieha I have a present!"
Iieha Beautemps: "Ahhhh! Presents really!?" She grins to Manda trying to pay no heed to Dey's lady-like comment.
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "...Wait. Brothers?" Deyaenoux Bouchard: "What brothers?"
Mandalina Elendil: "I left them in the house. Oh, I have two older brothers in Sharlayan."
Deyaenoux Bouchard squints. "You never told me you had brothers."
Iieha Beautemps: "Oh I'm so excited to see Manda!"
Mandalina Elendil: "You never asked? Anyway. Inside." Mandalina Elendil shoo's them towards the door. Mandalina Elendil picks up two coats off of the couch, "I asked my brothers to send me a new coat. They sent one for you as well!"
Iieha Beautemps grins ear to ear when Manda presents them. She's in awe by the style. "Ahhhh! I almost never fashion like that imported to Ul'dah!!"
Mandalina Elendil holds it out, "Try it on."
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "You never told me you had brothers!"
Iieha Beautemps takes the coat from Manda and scurries to the corner to try it on while Manda and Dey have a talk!
Mandalina Elendil: "You. Never. Asked! I have parents too."
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "...I don't know why that's wierd but it is!"
Mandalina Elendil: "That I have a family?" She sheds the coat she wearing and slips the new one on.
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "Well. Yeah."
Iieha Beautemps: "Is this popular in Sharlayan right now...?"
Mandalina Elendil: "Of course it is."
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "Why are you getting things from Sharlayan?"
Mandalina Elendil: "Because it's my home? My brothers send me things all the time. Mostly letters, sometimes books."
Iieha Beautemps: "It fits so well! Now I have a nice coat to wear back in Ishgard~! Thank you, Manda!" She jumps for joy but quickly regains her composure. "Oh that's right! Speaking of Ishgard...I got mail today from back there. Let me get it."
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "You don't need to wear that in Ishgard. We've a much finer style!"
Iieha Beautemps glances between Dey and Manda....so much awkward tension. Iieha Beautemps waves the parchement around. "Anyways~! The priest I spoke with invited me to a Scholasticate event! It's supposed to be a debate of some sorts..."
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "A debate? Of what."
Mandalina Elendil drops the coat debacle, "A debate? You?"
Iieha Beautemps: "The topic is Pro-Alliance and Pro-Isolation. So, which is seen better for the Holy See."
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "I see. And what's your stance?"
Iieha Beautemps: "Pro-Alliance of course!"
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "A sound choice."
Iieha Beautemps stares wide-eyed at Dey. What. ...Is this Dey!?
Mandalina Elendil: "Y-you agree?!"
Iieha Beautemps: "Y-You actually agree with it!?"
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "Of course."
Mandalina Elendil: ((You made me choke on a noodle!))
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "...Why are you both so shocked?"
Iieha Beautemps: "B-Because! You were always so adamant on Ishgard's stance about staying away from the alliance and anything in regards to outside!"
Mandalina Elendil: "Yes, exactly."
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "Yes, and no. There are several factors involved. A matter of pride most of all; that Ishgard ought to stand on its own to prove to its own people, and to the other cities, that we were strong enough to fend off the dragons. I also saw the cultural influence and changes brought on by outsiders, and grew uncertain of that change. Change... was necessary, yes, but by our hand and voice." Deyaenoux Bouchard: "What I saw, in Gridania, the bounties of the land and the wealth of the other city-states... I recall the troubles and struggles that my people suffered through under that isolationalism, to satisfy that pride, that the suffering was noble and made us strong!" Deyaenoux Bouchard: "But... there is no need for that suffering anymore."
Iieha Beautemps: "And you make fair point with that. All City-States operate with the same mindset like Ishgard. Help isn't normally called for unless a last ditch effort. Ul'Dah especially stands on their own pride and wouldn't want to get help. They're proud of their people and offer so -much- in regards to the market of trade." Iieha Beautemps: "And you speak true to that. Ishgard's pride is what defines its people and the nation. There is nothing wrong with it but that you've learned the isolation and suffering will do no good for the coming future."
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "The dragons have parted, and well I still do not trust them, I would rather like to not see another sad, barren soul heavy with dread and hunger." Deyaenoux Bouchard: "I clamored so much, so loudly, for prosperity and peace. Who would I be if I now take it back in whatever form Halone blesses it to us?"
Iieha Beautemps: "To the other City-states Ishgard offers so many resources that are not obtainable in the lands we are familiar with. Even from what I know there are many in the Congregation who work with the dragons. Still hesitant with their trust, it's a process to moving forward."
Mandalina Elendil just stands back rather impressed with the both of them.
Iieha Beautemps: "You're wise to have opened your eyes outside of her gates. People need to see that the change takes so much time and effort. One can't fully accept everything given to us in an instant. You're a very noble example of that."
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "I am proud of Ishgard, and of her people, and well are they deserving of the good fortune and future they've fought for and earned."
Iieha Beautemps: "They've fought longer by far than any of the city-states combined over the period of history. They deserve all the good that has been blessed to them. It's a wonderful start to a strong and secure allyship."
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "It will be an... adjustment. But I look forward to a generation, a future, that will no longer have to look down at an empty plate and up at shadow-filled skies."
Iieha Beautemps smiles warmly when Deyaenoux speaks and offers a nod in agreement. "An adjustment that'll take time but it'll flourish wonderfully!"
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "You really thought I would put my pride ahead of my people?"
Iieha Beautemps: "Well with I've known you to be for so long....yes. But to hear you speak so enlightened is amazing! You still take consideration into Ishgard first and foremost but slowly welcome change that benefits the nation. I'n very happy to hear this."
Deyaenoux Bouchard looks up at Mandalina. Did you think the same?
Mandalina Elendil smiles, "It's really impressing to hear this is what you think of your nations predicament in the aftermath of what has happened. I had though you were on the opposite side, and It's nice to know this is how you feel about it."
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "I've lived behind those closed gates. And if they are to open under an allied banner here stands I with open arms, never have them closed again."
Iieha Beautemps smile grows wider when she hears those words. She could hug him! But, she won't. Just to remain polite. "Ahh! This is so wonderful to hear! I know it'll be a slow process of acceptance for the nation as a whole but this is amazing!"
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "Rest assured, I know what you are, and to me beast you still are. But I take comfort in the fact that Ishgard has proven itself under the shadow of dragon wings and well we will bring blade to scale again without misgiving."
Mandalina Elendil: "Because Iieha is -so- terrifying. What a little monster."
Iieha Beautemps looks over her shoulder and grins at Manda.
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "She's of dragon-blood!"
Iieha Beautemps: "But he is right, in some respect. Though I'm just a normal girl in all honesty! Ishgard has done more than it has ever could and it's admirable. Even if by not blood I'm still very proud to say I'm Ishgardian!"
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "You're of your brood, not of Ishgard."
Iieha Beautemps: "...My brood is technically no longer here, I suppose."
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "Hmph." Deyaenoux Bouchard: "But, you will stand by Ishgard, and for it it's at least one more voice." Deyaenoux Bouchard: "You still have your infamy as the Speaker. I rather her."
Iieha Beautemps: "As I've said many times! I've known Ishgard as my home first, not the dragons. There are many things I do not agree with how the Dragons themselves acted to the Ishgardians..." She tilted her head a Deyaenoux with a shrug. "Yes! And I've spoken as myself quite well as of late! I've been making sure not to be so fearful of it."
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "Just speak your turn and speak it fair when time be."
Iieha Beautemps: "Understood! When debate topics like this go on, what sort of questions are posed to you? So I can prepare..."
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "We'll speak of and prepare thusly another time."
Iieha Beautemps nods to Dey. "Alright. Whenever you're ready to prep me just say!"
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "Oh, you're willing to listen to me now, but well did you fuss and hassle all the while I was writing over your speeches as Speaker."
Iieha Beautemps: "Because it was all biased and made me out to be a villain! I could feel just how tense it made everyone. It wasn't a good feeling..." Iieha Beautemps: "But I have to give you credit, you write very well and convincing. I admire that..."
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "You didn't trust me! And for it, you and Emmanellain almost ruined everything...!" Deyaenoux Bouchard reels himself back. Calm down. Deyaenoux Bouchard: "Fine. Fine."
Iieha Beautemps: "W-Well it's hard to trust someone when they hold so much anger, but, I apologize for that." Iieha Beautemps: "I know you do your best to mean well."
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "This time, and I mean it, you listen to ME."
Mandalina Elendil seems happy that we're all getting along here.
Iieha Beautemps: "I will! And I'll ask whatever I need to if I get stuck on how to answer a question."
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "Pray I will to Halone I don't tutor any classes with you in the Scholasticate."
Iieha Beautemps: "...I would hope not. I've heard how you've tutored Emmanellain..." Iieha felt a shiver down her spine at the thought.
Mandalina Elendil: "Knowing your luck you'll- OH! Luck!" She turns and digs into the pockets of her previous robe, "I have something for you!"
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "Hm?"
Mandalina Elendil holds up a little red ribbon with a star sapphire bead sewn onto the end, "I got you a good luck charm at the Moonfire event Iieha and I went to."
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "What are these for?"
Mandalina Elendil: "It's supposed to bring good luck! I figured you probably wouldn't belive in that kind of thing so I sewed the bead onto the ribbon so you could use it as a bookmark for your scriptures."
Deyaenoux Bouchard plucks the offered ribbon with gingerly care and looks at it once over before tucking it into his inside vest pocket. "Much obliged," he said, almost leaning down for a quick kiss - then remembering Iieha was there so nope that didn't happen. Ahem!
Iieha Beautemps: LMAO)
Mandalina Elendil: "Ah, it's practical, and I read that star sapphires well sought after in Ishgard..." She looked a little embarrassed. ((gdi Iieha.))
Deyaenoux Bouchard taps over his chest where the tucked ribbon was. "It's useful, I like it."
Mandalina Elendil breathes a sigh of relief, "Oh, I'm glad."
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "So, ah! Yes. Thank you."
Mandalina Elendil: "I, uh, you are welcome."
Deyaenoux Bouchard blinks. "Yes." And looks away. Awkward.
Mandalina Elendil: "Um, anyway! Ha.. now I don't know what to say... I kind of inturrupted the both of you."
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "Er, right! What was I--? Oh. Ah! Yes, ahem! We will talk about the... the thing, talking thing, discussion! Iieha. That."
Iieha Beautemps: "Yes! Discussion thing. When you're free!:
Deyaenoux Bouchard leans down to give Mandalina an awkward hug like a hug but not really.
Mandalina Elendil only accepts this because Iieha is in the room. Damnit Iieha.
Iieha Beautemps is such a cockblock.
Deyaenoux Bouchard steps back because propriety and stuffs. And Iieha. Yes. Ahem.
Mandalina Elendil takes a step back as well. Proper halonic distance and all that jazz, right?
Deyaenoux Bouchard PROPER HALONIC DISTANCE.
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "Right. Well."
Iieha Beautemps: "You...have a pleasant evening!"
Deyaenoux Bouchard: "Yes. That." Deyaenoux Bouchard: "You too. Both. You two, er, too."
Mandalina Elendil: "G-good night..."
