A Deal with the Devil | Rob & Dezód
The only chance the resistance had was to find a dragon egg. Without a dragon, they were no match for the Queen and her rider. If Rob had been more observant, he would have noticed that his own nephew had his own abilities that could save them yet, but he was too determined to be the hero that he would not even consider that anyone else might be.
There had been rumors that some dragon eggs had survived and his brothers clung to this hope. But Rob knew that trying to find them on their own, would be almost impossible. Rob knew a way that would not fail.
He told no one of his mission. His brothers would never take such a risk as this. They were hailed to be among the bravest men of the south, but Rob knew they did not have the courage he possessed. He would face the dark sorcerer and he would return a dragon rider.
Rob smiled at the thought. He could see himself returning home after defeating Cassius Montagu and raising his brother to the throne. Perhaps they'd even put a crown on his head, then. He saw himself the envy of every man in Aragoth and women throwing themselves at his feet. He almost laughed then: how Britta would regret treating him as she had. She would beg him to be his. Perhaps he would only take her as a mistress to punish her for her behavior.
Either way, he would have her, too.
Rob had dismounted and was standing in the clearing, keeping the darkness at bay from the light of his torch. Dezód had a fortress farther north, it was said, but Rob did not have the time to ride there and back. When you truly wanted to make a deal with him, however, he would find you.
