Ridglea Music Festival!
This past weekend I was blessed with the opportunity to performing front of the home crowd at the Ridglea Theater in Fort Worth, TX. (Shout out my dude Smoothvega!) This was a pretty crazy experience for me since my entire childhood was 5 minutes from the Ridglea. I remember driving by there many days thinking it looked cool but never actually knowing what went on there. Fast forward several years later and my name is on the marquee out front. It’s the little thing on this journey I’ve learned to appreciate!
There were many other local acts on the line up, and I had the opportunity to open the night. In the past some friends have asked me why I always seem to open up shows but I actually prefer it. There’s a level of discomfort when opening an act and in a weird way I like that feeling. I feel like it enhances my performance and increases my energy. I honestly feel like this was one of my better performances. It was the first time in awhile I’ve had a full set to myself (if you’ve been to a tour stop you know why lol) and I was really able to catch my vibe. It was a relatively smaller crowd but it made the show very intimate and uplifting. If you know me, then you know any time I step on stage I would rather the message come across than anything to further my name and I feel like that was the case here. I had several people touch base with me after and tell me it was inspiring. That made it clear my job was done. As always the glory goes to God!
I can’t end this post without sending a huge thank you to my boy Ant and his family for coming out on his bday in his circumstances to show love. It’s been a long road for both of us and you continue to inspire me daily! I love you bro!
Thanks to my wife Stefani, Trent, Pry, JP, Shawna, Callen, Melanie, Blake, Ashley, Hank Bibby, Tiny E, Uhall, Moe, Karina (photo credit to you!), my little big cousin Ry Ry, and my uncle Rene for coming to support! (If I forgot anyone I’m sorry, I still love you!) I had a great time and maybe you’ll see myself back again at the Ridglea in the not too distant future. Lol the journey continues! #RehabMusic
