WYATT, CHRIS, BIANCA, & MELINDA in the DARK FUTURE
Love your dark future au and I have a question!! What is Leo doing the whole time lol. Like after the charmed ones are dead and Chris is leading the rebellion…..what’s Leo up to lol. Like is he involved at ALL. Feels like the elders should be doing something about this (love your blog! 💕)
okay so yes so in the "present timeline" so to speak with like 21yo chris or whatever i haven't quite decided if he's alive or not up if he is dead up until his death he was definitely doing a lot of things, it's just very few of those things involved being with family. i personally think wyatt slaughtered a lot of the elders and the remaining ones are kind of in hiding, so there's not super a guiding force amongst magic so leo does kind of try to be that in a sense he basically like overdoes whitelightering bc so many whitelighters are dead and there are so many witches under the constant threat of danger and also i think he and piper are so so very divorced lol ouch, i think he has a million and one charges and he just runs around the world helping them until he dies. i also think that, due to the decimation of the elders, we are not getting new whitelighters in circulation as i believe that to be a magic thing they have to do - i think a large part of paige's studies that chris and the rebellion do try to continue is How Do You Make Whitelighters bc clearly some souls are marked for it right so How do you get them to have those powers and i don't think they've cracked that get i think the closest they've come is the golem they made that is melinda, chris's "younger sister" bc i wanted melinda there but piper and leo were def not having another child so they did try to build an anti-wyatt using piper and leo's dna or whatever and made melinda. anyways. due to the lack of whitelighters, there are very few healers, and that makes shit super difficult for people, so i think leo, while still alive, would be running around healing witches As Much As Possible, and quite frankly i do think he avoids chris "because he's a strong witch, he's capable enough to take care of himself, i have faith in him blah blah blah" all these lies leo tells himself because the truth is leo feels like he absolutely 100% Failed as a father and, quite frankly, can't bear to look chris in the eyes because of it.
I was going through your dark future tag (obsessed!!!!) and I was wondering what your vision is for Tamora being on Wyatt's side? I'm really curious! <3
yes okay so i'm realizing i don't think i've ever talked about this! so basically in the light timeline tamora mainly has her two defining traits in that she is a bit of a scaredy cat (especially in regards to her own powers) and she is a dreamer (but she really doesn't let herself dream, like, ever. literally haha now that i think of it at the point in TWW that we're in she's basically downing potion for a dreamless sleep like every night. but i think this is best exemplified by her being a business/econ major while kat is off on a gap year bc kat like i want to find myself and explore new things and tamora, while she has these dreams, simply doesn't find it realistic. that's why she picked such a practical major, something you could definitely get a job with, because - and this is also rooted in her anxiety - she doesn't want tot go out on a limb have it break underneath her and have it all come crashing to the ground. if you asked her "what is your dream major" or "what is your dream job" i don't know if she'd have an answer. like, there definitely is an answer and it's definitely not "business major" but she is kind of so severed / embarrassed by that dreamer part of herself that she doesn't know what the answer is.)
so anyway. a major difference we find in the dark future would a) be it's dark as hell in here lol. you know wyatt's kind of crazy and magic isn't doing well and the charmed ones are all in pretty bad emotional places. and then b) tamora and kat were raised with their powers. in canon as defined in the comics which i did elect to continue in my writings, the twins powers were bound bc tamora like lit the nursery on fire. because, even as a baby, she packed a punch, and those powers were dangerous, and this grants them the ability to live a normal life. however, in the dark future, okay, they were maybe bound for a couple years til the girls were like 5ish bc by then they can kind of comprehend stuff and things and then Also it's obvious they're not getting a normal life. so you might as well start training them bc there is a darkness brewing on the horizon.
so this is where we circle back to Tamora, Anxiety, & Dreams. TAD, if you will. she is still scared, and she is afraid of her powers and herself and the world and you know what her family lowkey isn't helping because they're basically saying yeah there's a lot to be scared of. so probably around a middle school age for her, she meets her cousin. her cousin everyone's warned her about. and she knows she should fight him but she can't bc quite frankly she is frazzled and scared and lord knows powers don't work super well when you're in that headspace. but wyatt is actually super nice, and he protects tamora, and he watches out for her. maybe he saved her from some school bullies or demons in a way where he did most of the damage but lets tamora commit the final blow (probably demons it would be excessive to kill middle school bullies but like. i mean not improbable? if we wanted to get really dark with it we could say it was actually some older person attempting to sexually assault tamora at age 12 or whatever and she does kill that person. i just think that that's um. very heavy and needs to be done with respect i kind of hate when media sprinkles in assault against women but never fully understands the ramifications that continue throughout life when that shit happens to you. like we could go with that it would be interesting i would just really want to put proper emphasis and more research towards that trauma. if we wanted to go a little lighter it could be because magic is already relatively exposed by this point? a witch hunter trying to kill tamora). Point Is. tamora does it. she (probably) kills that guy, using her power, with wyatt's guidance. and just for a moment, it's a taste of what she dreams of -- a world where she's not the one who's scared, she's the one who's powerful, she's the one who's in control
so i think that is was ultimately pulls her to wyatt's side, this promise of being someone who is not scared but who is fierce, who is confident, who is in control. and it feels good. it feels so good to be powerful and to be feared and not be such a shrinking violet not be the awkward kid who feels like she doesn't fit in but to take the knife and carve out the place yourself. this, obvi, fucks up her relationship to kat. the twin telepathy thing is definitely complicated and not great to have when you're on opposite sides of a war. i honestly wouldn't be surprised if kat tried to psychically argue tam back to their side and tam in fury did try to kill kat. and the thing with the twin telepathy (as i have established it) is when your brain chemistry is altered, you can't reach each other. this happens when one is over caffeinated, drunk, high, under the affects of a potion, etc. if it's modified in the same way (e.g. both took the same potion) then they can still communicate but maybe it's a little hazier. if someone is to say go on antidepressants or something, their brain chemistry is being altered, so they wouldn't be able to communicate. however, the way it works is they are always kind of spiritually reaching out to find each other, so, assuming they were to stay on the same dose and meds and keep this as their new "base chemistry", within a couple months the connection would reinstate itself.
This Is Why tamora, (who, on wyatt's side, renames herself paloma halliwell, taking both a "p" name and the established magical last name of the family (mitchell is not a respected magical last name, hell neither is matthews. but halliwell has been around for generations, so she takes it, separating herself from her mother's legacy and aligning herself with wyatt's concept of the warren line being the ultimate power)) is always taking some kind of potion or pill. she'll usually switch it up about every month of so, to keep her mind augmented and sealed off from kat. actually, on the rebellion side, i think whenever they have a psychic or anything of that nature, they do try to replicate whatever tam is on in order to gain access to her mind and maybe what the dark side is up to
alright Well if i were writing how chris and bianca met in the dark future i would have it be something like chris is one of the leaders of an underground revolutionary factions that protects witches and other magical beings from wyatt’s regime but also shelters mortals and the like bc let’s face it the world got really really jank. the phoenix are a relatively wealthy organization as they are paid assassins and by paid assassins i do mean well paid, and even thought they are witches they have such a neutral alignment that they basically become wyatt’s seal time six. and bianca’s fine with it, for the most part. yes, she is killing a lot of witches, a lot of people who have done no wrong, but what’s the alternative? what’s a single phoenix to a god? the world had been razed, any chance to saved it died with the charmed ones, so why fight it? she was safe, protected, in this world, so long as she played her part. and it was a shitty part, but it would be a shittier death.
well the rest is under the cut bc this got too long to post as a normal post ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
and one day bianca’s out and about minding her own business gettin groceries or something when she notices one of wyatt’s demons in the aisles. and it’s got it’s eyes locked on this five year old who’s shopping with his mother. bianca keeps moving because she knows better. that child is a witch. mom doesn’t know, hell, the kid probably doesn’t even know. but wyatt does. and it’s protocol: eliminate a threat before it can become a threat. but it’s a five year old. but she has know way to protect it. yeah, she could kill the demon. and then what? take the child back to the phoenix? they’re controlled by wyatt. go on the run? they’d find her. no where was safe from him, and there was no winning. it was best to stay quiet.
well, mom notices the fireball and dives in front of the child. so now we’ve got what we call “a situation”. and it turns out the child’s power is a sonic scream. give it a couple years and some proper training, he could probably disintegrate the demon with just his voice. but, as he is a five year old, all his can muster is the force of a small bomb, sending the demon and every other patron back flying, knocking over aisle in the grocery store, pinning people down and knocking them out left and right. bianca’s sent flying back into the wine aisle, shattering bottles and sending shards of glass deep into her body. the demon struggles to his feet and another fireball appears in his hand and he’s definitely gonna kill the kid but unfortunately him the security cameras got knocked out in the explosion. bianca kills him with an energy ball before passing out.
and she wakes up in… well she doesn’t actually know where she wakes up. it looks like a cave and almost reminds her of the underworld, but it’s cleaner. there are lanterns with witches orbs glowing in them and people. a lot of people. more than the underworld would ever have. also her wounds are dressed? and this guy over on the other side of the room notices she’s awake and grabs something off a nearby table before walking over to her. so bianca’s weighing her options because she could shimmer away but she’s sustained a lot of damage and shimmering right now would definitely make things worse, and these guys also patched her up so in theory they were trying to help her. unless they healed her to torture her, which wasn’t remotely uncommon in her line of work. but she’s spent too much time debating and this guy is already kneeling at her palate offer her a vial. what is it? he smiles. a potion. bianca hesitates, but, hey, she is immune to the majority of poisons. the worst that could happen is that she would know they were trying to kill her. so she takes it and immediately recognizes it. a healing potion. the taste is unique, but familiar. she can’t quite put her finger on it.
and this guy’s already talking like thomas said you saved his life. with an energy ball. and he can clearly see bianca tense because accusing someone of magic is putting a death sentence on their head and he’s like hey. don’t worry. and sends out of few witches orbs that sorta glow around them before fading out. i’m a witch too. and he’s explaining how not everyone underground is a witch, how there are some fairies, a handful of leprechauns, and a good amount or mortals. and he’s launching into this spiel about how here witches are safe and protected from wyatt, and how they are fighting against him, little by little, day by day, and bianca really wants to be like sure jackass yeah you can totally fight the most powerful witch the world has ever seen but then the gears start turning in her head as she remembers kills that somehow got away, assassins that wyatt lost, strikes on his militia, his spies. and these were always passed off as lone rebels quickly killed, but if you took a step back… and now bianca’s got this horrible feeling. this horrible feeling that wyatt isn’t untouchable. that his rule isn’t total. she’s just complicit. and here this guy is, offering her a place in the resistance, and resistance that doesn’t feel entirely futile.
now, bianca doesn’t listen to lana del rey but she still knows hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like her to have, so she plays cordial until she knows she has the strength to shimmer out undetected. and it’s back to her old life but it’s not quite the same. no one can tell, really. but bianca feels sick. and almost every other day she has a fleeting thought of running away, trying to find that safe place again. and she pushes it down every time. it’s way more trouble then it’s worth. but it won’t leave her head.
and blah blah blah blah blah one way wyatt’s headquarters are absolutely buzzin bc as it turns out they might have a lead on the leader of the resistance. now, wyatt denies that that’s his brother, and he’ll kill anyone that says he is, but chris’s last name is halliwell. wyatt says it’s to mock him, to make false claim to the charmed line, as he is the only child from the charmed ones, but uhhhhh bianca knows that isn’t true. yes the phoenix work for wyatt, but that doesn’t mean that they don’t keep secrets of their own. and one of those secrets is an extensive library, full of many histories that wyatt destroyed in his move for power. and bianca has read them inside and out. chris is a halliwell of charmed blood. so wyatt’s got a location on chris and he sends the phoenix after him. bianca, being the best of the best, is chosen to go.
she finds him in near the palace of fine arts. he doesn’t look quite like she expected; he looks older, with reddish hair, and a broken nose. and he’s trying to play dumb? talking about how he doesn’t know who she is or what she wants he’s not a witch he swears and it’s so pathetic it almost gives bianca pause until she’s flying back into a column. she tries to shimmer behind him and drive her athame into his back but he orbs away before she can make contact, and she’s sent into a different column. bianca stumbles to her feet bc she’s sorta getting the shit beat out of her and at the very least the wind knocked out of her but she’s still got a few tricks up her sleeve. she glowers and chris, much to her surprise, stops. bianca takes this moment to charge but he calls her athame away, orbing it into his hand at the throat. and he smiles, softly. witches orbs swirl as a glamour is shed. you know, if i had known you were my brother’s best assassin, i might have thought twice about healing you.
and bianca steps back, raising her hands in surrender. and they both sorta stand there for a moment because to be quite frank Neither of them expected that. bianca’s athame shimmers back to her hand but she sheaths it. she turns to go but chris stops her, asking what her plan is. bianca tells him: glamour a body with his face and bring it to wyatt. chris halliwell will be dead. he’ll be able to tell if the kill isn’t fresh. bianca cocks her head and chris understands exactly what she’s planning on doing. he studies her, teetering on the edge of send bianca into a third and maybe final column. either i bring a body or i’m the one that dies horribly. and she’s honestly a little annoyed at herself that she feels the need to justify herself - that’s how the world is: dog eat dog. and she wasn’t going to be torn to shreds.
there’s a third option. bianca unsheathes her athame. i kill you for real and deliver you to him? chris smiles at that threat and his fingers twitch. bianca feels a slight knock against her athame. the third option is you come with me, and nobody dies. you can’t hide from wyatt. really? because i’ve been successfully doing that for about 21 years so far. he’s right. he’s been fighting wyatt, and he’s been doing it well. and it’s hope. bianca was old enough to remember what the world was like before. she tried to forget because knowing things could never return to the way they were stung in ways she couldn’t describe, but in that moment all of those memories were bubbling to the surface in the most painful feeling of hope. she sheathes her weapon. you really going to trust me, halliwell? chris holds out his hand. i don’t know, i think something good could come of it. bianca takes his hand. i doubt it. the two orb out.
what do you think would have happened to melinda if she existed in the dark future?
okay well i have given some of my thots on the origin of the dark future and also sorta like how it is to live there so if i’m building off these i don’t think melinda would have been raised by piper & leo instead i think she & chris would have been raised by paige & phoebe (and also henry and coop) and i feel like melinda would definitely be one of those kids who like never talks and never makes eye contact with anyone but just sorta follows chris around like a shadow and it like sorta bugs chris in the beginning but also the world seems to be going more and more to shit so really he’s just glad that he like almost always knows where melinda is and that she’s safe. they definitely develop almost like this sorta non verbal communication and they’re excellent fighters together. after piper’s death and wyatt’s move to not only control magic as a whole but also just sorta rule the world i think melinda definitely changed not in that she starts speaking more or anything i think she just begins to branch out on her own and try to help people and hinder wyatt’s coup as much as possible. i think the whole underground resistance that i had illustrated in my previous post would definitely be one of melinda’s ideas, and i think she would be the one who goes out and finds magical beings and offers them shelter, whereas chris organizes more of the okay here are the places we’re gonna throw molotov cocktails at. i also think while bianca was the one to pitch going back in time to try to rewrite the past, it was melinda who insisted chris should be the one to go.
For the AU headcanons thing: 1) AU with all four sisters as "the Power of Four." 2) The dark future AU that season 6 Chris came from.
The Power of Four
They find Paige when Shax goes after her (because the Oracle was able to figure out there was a fourth sister before the elders in canon for some reason!). They try to save her on the landing pad with a Po3 spell but Prue freezes up, remembering the time she almost died.
They’re all at home working through their Shax based emotions when Paige enters and is like, sorry, this is super weird, but I think I’m your sister??? And the girls are like no offense, but no, you’re not, when Shax breaks through the door ready to phuck shit up
And the girls all crowd around Paige ready to protect her, and the chandelier starts shaking and glowing and shining down blue light that Shax can’t seem to cross no matter how hard he tries
And Paige is like WHAT but the girls are like you know what nevermind we think you Are our sister so uhh take my hand and start chanting
And they do a “The Power of Four will set us free” (I don’t have a good rhyme for “four”) and vanquish Shax, and Paige is like Sick! I Know I Came In Here But Now I Am Leaving, Please Don’t Contact Me Again!
Prue is initially the least receptive to Paige, but the two end up forming a really close bond due to the distrust of Cole
Piper is a lot less apprehensive to the thought of a new sister given that Prue, in this timeline, is not dead, she and Paige form a close bond because Piper is the Mom Friend™ and is always like have you eaten food get home safe! and Paige had never really had friends like that before
Phoebe is still the most open to having a new sister, and is the first to actively seek Paige out again
ALSO, since Paige is no longer filling the role of the third sister with the power of telekinesis, I don’t think her powers would be “telekinetic orbing”, I think she would just take on more whitelighter based powers of orb shields + photokinesis
There would definitely be another time travelling episode where all four of them go back and meet Melinda Warren (Paige is freaking out the whole time, but the girls are just like “don’t worry, you’ll get used to it, just try not to get burned at the stake.” “You traveled to the past and got burnt at the stake?!” “No, that one was actually the future.”) and they find out that the “Charmed Ones” prophecy was actually wrong the whole time, it wasn’t three sisters Melinda foresaw, it was four!
The Dark Future
Everyone is in full swing prepping for baby Chris’s birth when Wyatt goes missing from Magic School
Phoebe tries desperately to get a premonition off where Wyatt was or where he’s been taken, but she can’t due to her powers having been stripped, so she abandons magic as a whole, saying that magic abandoned her when she needed it the most. She strips her powers and runs away to New York
Meanwhile, Piper has been singlehandedly incinerating the underworld trying to find Wyatt
Leo, not an elder, has no offensive powers, so he has been talking to ever single magical being he’s ever known, trying to get information
This means Paige is the one raising Chris. She keeps contacting Piper and Leo like hello! you mind raising the child you gave birth to! but they’re both a little bit off the deep end
Paige ends up finding Phoebe and begging her to come back home, not to be a witch, just to be there for her nephew. Phoebe agrees, but keeps her powers bound
Chris never has a wiccaning
Chris is essentially raised by Paige, Phoebe, and Victor
Piper has gone full “La Femme Nikita”, killing every demon she can find, only popping in to use the Book of Shadows
Everything comes to a head on Chris’s second birthday (both his parents missed his first birthday). Phoebe throws a cutesy, small party, Paige orbs Leo in from God Knows Where, but Piper doesn’t show. She pops in to check the Book for some information on some demon she’s currently after, and her sisters blow up at her, furious that she’s missing her son’s birthday to chase after some demon
Piper argues that Chris is two, no one remembers their second birthday, no one needs a second birthday, the son who needs her is the one who is still missing, who could be tortured right now as we speak, so if you don’t mind, I’m going to check the book and go where I need to be!
“If that’s how you feel, Piper, take the book, we don’t want it anymore”
Piper takes the book
Paige still meets Henry and they still fall in love, Phoebe still meets Coop, but their relationship remains secret due to the whole “forbidden love” thing. Phoebe tried ending that relationship multiple times, but she always comes back. The twins and PJ are both born in 2007
Some time in 2008, they find Wyatt. As it turns out, he wasn’t in the underworld, he was in the heavens the entire time, in a secret location Gideon had build for the sole purpose of murdering a toddler
Wyatt, now age 5, has grown too strong for an Elder to control, and busts out, ruining a fair amount of the heavens while he’s at it
Leo finds Gideon almost dead. Gideon tries to explain himself, begging Leo to save him, but Leo kills him, no magic, no power, mano a mano. An act of great evil makes the world a little darker
Piper and Leo finally return home (only vaguely aware that they now have nieces and nephews), but you can’t really return to the way things were when you’ve been on a murderous insane bender for the past 5 years, especially not when you have that nagging fear that your son might be evil
demons attack the house frequently in response to Piper’s actions, Phoebe leaves again for New York (pregnant, again, but only Paige knows).
Paige and Henry also move out of the manor for their own safety, moving out of the city into the North Bay
The sister cease contact with one another
Wyatt runs away at age 12, but at this point, Piper basically knows he’s evil, and doesn’t follow him. She just begs Chris that he doesn’t turn out the same way.
There are whisperings of a new power growing in the underworld, that of witch with whitelighter powers organizing demons. Paige unbinds the twins powers and begins to train them in the craft. Phoebe never tells any of her daughters about their cousins.
In 2018, Wyatt makes a move for the throne by doing what no one has been able to do before him: killing the Charmed Ones. He picks off Phoebe first, then Paige, and finally his own mother. Chris tries to stop him but doesn’t have remotely enough power. He watches Piper die.
send me an au and i’ll write out my headcanons for it!
What if there was a game show like Don't Forget the Lyrics...
But instead of filling in missing song lyrics, you had to fill in quotes from classic literature.
