My interpretation of Plague and Cure in their first few appearances has always given off the impression that care is there on his side, at least a little bit. Yes it's mostly derived out of possession in the beginning, but even if he won't admit it to himself having Cure there has been a big change in his life that he doesn't want to lose. I saw him allowing her to ask about his neck scar as him unlocking a door so to speak, and starting to acknowledge she's more to him than something to be owned. This last chapter with Ren shows that even more clearly. Plague already admitted he knew that making Cure his second wasn't anything that would stop his promotion, he just trusted her and even wanted her to get something out of it. He could've just used her unofficially if he didn't and she wouldn't be getting the pay and status other DH seconds get. If he really knew that would open her up to harm for any more mistakes I bet he never would've made it official.

Cure may simply see it as an obligation, her feelings are harder to parse but she's not as much in a position to feel anything less than complicated about him. This is just her life now.

I imagine Plague as someone who is very lonely and not emotionally matured. Which then comes across as aggression and being a little bitch. Which then leads people not liking him. Which then leads to him taking Cure as a payment because he is entitled like that in his own mind and because that's a way to secure at least some company.

If he was a really bad guy who wants to own a person because it gives him limitless freedom to do anything he wants with the said person, he would have done horrible things to Cure. No one's going to stop him, he legally owns Cure. He could go a full psychopath mode with her without anyone stepping in.

But he doesn't.

Of course, he is not obviously aware of his behavior and where it comes from.

But that's only my current understanding of Plague.

When it comes to Cure, for me she appears as a defeated person who has accepted her faith, and is likely embarrassed to be just an object to be owned. She has not told her parents her true situation, only that she got a new job (when Plague claimed her as his payment).

Plague, staring at Cure, trying to mentally tell her to UPDATE HER DING DANG FIC or GET THAT DING DANG BOOK OUT ALREADY I'M TIRED OF SNEAKING TO LOOK AT YOUR NOTES

Cure over here like "WHY IS HE STARING DAGGERS AT ME?! WHAT DID I DO WRONG THIS TIME?! WHY IS HE UPSET?! SHOULD I ASK?! NO, I DON'T WANT CONFONTATION, I SHALL JUST IGNORE KDFJ;ALDKFJ"

Just another lovely case of two people not reading each other correctly.

Can you imagine if Cure actually knows its Plague reading her fic because of the username he chooses and she's just - pft... he couldn't come up with something different? He ALWAYS uses this username. Does he think I don't know? He's bookmarked it, left kudos, and spammed on my last chapter to update already. He's not subtle at all.

I love the idea of Cure being scared as to why he's staring daggers at her

But like a week later looking at her fic and going "ah, lmao, silly" and feeling a wave of calm

I can very much see Cure writing fanfics. My writing prof in college encouraged fanfics because it was something you got excited about and therefore got you writing! The overall thought was "Fanfics are good, they inspire you and make you a better writer. Use this knowledge and write your own books and not just fully focus on fanfics" and I could very much see that with Cure

Writing fanfics when she's not able to get herself to write her own book, but when the inspiration strikes she can quickly turn to write her book again and leave her readers on a cliffhanger

Adding onto the other anon, if Plague is reading her fanfics, that would SUCK, sorry Sir, she left you on a cliffhanger and now you can't bring it up at work! Because you are hiding the fact that you read her fanfics! All you can do is stare at her and think thoughts of "update update update" and hope your brainwaves connect to hers! lmao

Asdhfshldff I love the mental image of Plague staring Cure and seething that she hasn't update her fic but by gods he is NOT going to ask about it or tell her he's reading any of her stuff. No, not even the book when it's out in the future someday.

I was thinking about that fanfiction ask you got a little bit ago And I honestly, personally headcanon, Cure as a writer, maybe not fanfiction, but I like the idea of Cure writing in her free time and Plague finding out. I highly enjoy the idea of it BEING fanfiction and Plague is like "haha oh this is cringe" then he ends up staying up ALL night reading her fanfic which is over 100k words and gets completely invested in the fandom JUST because of this fanfic then later... DEMANDS shyly to read the next chapter she is working on and hasn't released yet

I can just imagine the next day at work Cure is like "Sir... Are you alright? You look... Tired..." And he turns to her, fully aware he did not sleep at all because he was staring at his phone reading all night and just... cannot come up with an answer because of his tired brain

This makes sense. I don't know if Plague reads a lot but I imagine he would have some home education/influence to (high) arts through his mother when she was still alive. Sure, I can see him getting caught with something he finds cringe - I mean, doesn't he find everything and everyone cringe and stupid, probably himself too - and then getting involved in it. Of course, no one can know about this. He's veeeery private.

Cure seems like a writer type and perhaps has a book project of her own, unless she does indeed write fanfics~

This is NEVER an issue, never! I love to hear everyone's takes, visions, metas, headcanons etc. I've gotten lots of inspiration and also answers to my own story from them. They're always welcomed.

I love the new chapter! It makes me more curious about Plague and Cure's relationship.

Their relationship is a curious one indeed, even for me.

On the other hand, it is slavery in a way that Cure belongs to Plague and has, as a payment, lost her human rights.

Then, it seems that Cure is either fine with this or has accepted her destiny as it is. Her personality is submissive and adaptable.

While Plague has legal rights as a Death-Head owning Cure to do anything he wants to her, we have seen Plague treating Cure mainly like a servant or an assistant to clean up his messes. There's no physical, financial or sexual violence. He is making her run errands, do his job and he's verbally aggressive towards Cure (but he's verbally aggressive towards anyone except Kahamet).

Plague doesn't seem like a person who will bother with anything unless it really pays off for his benefit, so there has to be a reason why Plague has kept Cure around for so long. After all, once you claim a person as a payment for a deal, there's no regulation for how long you have to keep that person. Just like Alrick took Vanessa as a payment from Rodin and immediately let go of her.

Argh, Plague! Talking about his freedom while he took that very freedom and more away from Cure. Hypocritical dude!

Poor Cure.

That said, I at least got to laugh at the thief's reaction to Alrick's selfie. That was incredibly intelligent of Alrick to do! :)

Isn't he? :D I hadn't realized that he mopes about loosing his own freedom while having Cure as a payment at his side. Ironic!

Unfortunately, it seems Cure isn't a person who would bring this out to Plague, but perhaps Ama or someone else....
