Process vid for the cover art I did for Bloodtoll

Given the Eastern European setting and the fact that the story touches on a lot of weird religious themes (everything from orthodoxy to cult-like behaviour, some ummmm desecrating monasteries, there may be *cough* altar-fucking ANYWAY) when I asked Neil what her dream cover would be and she made an off-hand joking reference to orthodox iconography, I…couldn’t get it out of my head.

This obviously is not stylized like typical iconography, but it was very enjoyable to frame it and do the halos etc. GOLD IS VERY FUN.

Also, much credit to Oliver Stummvoll for the ref, that boy has the most delightful jaw clench and Draco is very stressed out in this fic.

For The Language of Flowers collab with fellow #dhrartists. I had Gladiolus: the flowers thrown to the Gladiators in celebration in ancient Rome. Meaning strength of character, moral integrity, and remembrance, these flowers spoke to me of of Hermione.

So here she is along with a fellow time traveler, sitting beneath a Roman fresco. She is the soft warrior: capable, brave, full of fortitude, intelligent, and beautiful. No wonder he fell in love with her.
