Leave a TV/Movie - The Fugitive
leave a movie / TV show and I’ll tell you:
favourite male character: SAM SAM ALWAYS SAM. He’s snarky, competent and so very soft - he lectures Poole about wearing better coats and shoes, covers Newman with a jacket when it’s cold, calls the Marshals his kids, is snippy when things go wrong but lavish with praise when they go right, and puts a chemical ice pack on Richard’s hands at the end, I love him so much. He also puts an arm over the back of the seat, not quite touching Richard but very much present, and ugh he is so affectionate and unashamed of it, more male characters need to be like this. SAM.
favourite female character: there aren’t many in this film, sadly, but I really love what we see of Helen Kimble, Richard’s now-dead wife. She’s wonderfully calm and patient, clearly loves Richard a great deal, and can hold her own in social situations but has a clear tipping point - “Thank you; I was down to my last joke.”
least favourite character: Welp, the Chicago cops were created to be hated, weren’t they? That said, I don’t think there’s a single character in this movie that doesn’t serve their purpose. It’s very well-crafted on the whole.
prettiest character: although I’m tempted to say Richard is the prettiest (Harrison Ford is so pretty), I love, love, love Poole! She’s breathtakingly beautiful and her sense of style is even more on point than Sam’s, which is saying something because Sam’s is unf.
funniest character: Cosmo’s interplay with Sam is the best :D although Biggs is not too far behind. Richard even has a few moments himself.
favorite season: since this is a movie, I’ll tell you my favourite scene instead!…unsurprisingly, it’s the very last scene with Sam and Richard in the car. Because affection, gentleness and feelings. Apart from this scene, there’s also a really beautiful shot of Richard walking into a tunnel and fading into blackness:
favourite romantic ship: coming as a surprise to absolutely no one, it’s Sam/Richard! Because affection, gentleness and feelings. Also, because they trusted each other when they needn’t have. And Sam’s no-nonsense attitude to life strikes me as quite similar to Helen’s - Richard’s type is clearly ‘soft nerd’, and Sam is the softest nerd.
favourite family ship: Sam and his team! HE CALLS THEM HIS KIDS. HE REFERS TO THEM AS ‘MY KIDS’. WHAT. A. CUTE. LOOK AT THEM BEING CUTE.
favourite friend ship: Sam’s great with all his kids, but I have a soft spot for his camaraderie with Poole.
least favourite ship: I wouldn’t have thought there was one, until I read a fic in which Sam was shipped with Newman and well…no, just no. *facepalm*
