Today since I had some time I decided to do some shop busy work of things that need attending too.
First up was the table saw. It has develop quite a wobble but I didn't have a dial indicator so I did the best I could do deal with it. I received a new dial indicator for Christmas so I decided today was the day to deal with the table saw. First I checked the runout on the blade from to back and I was getting .008" which is unacceptable. Then I checked the arbor to see if it was that. That had less than .001" of runout so it wasn't that. I checked the blade and that seemed good. So I put the washers on the arbor that hold the blade and screwed the nut on. They had .005" of runout. So I took them over to my sharpening station and sanded them flat with the 250 grit stone. This took a while but it was worth it. I put the blade back on and checked the runout out towards the end of the blade and I have that down to .004". That is acceptable.
Then up I checked the miter slot for square to the blade and that was in within .001".
Next up I checked the fence for square to the blade. Most people consider 1/64" an inch to be pretty good which is .0156 as a decimal. I checked my fence and front to back I was out .0085" which is less than 1/64 but I wanted to see if I could do better. I managed to get it down to .0015" which is less than 1/256"! I was quite pleased. I have always thought that fence cut square so that extra bit I am sure I will never notice but it's neat anyway.
Then it was onto sharpening up my chisels. Complete!
Then I decided to give my restored #4 hand plane a bit of a mild tune up as I haven't liked how it was performing lately but I hadn't really had time to deal with it. I resharpened the blade and reset the bevel. Then I closed up the throat of the plane some more by adjusting the frog. Now the plane is really working well and taking fantastic shavings. I may have the frog setup too closed and it may clog up a lot but I will give it a shot and see how it goes.
