Impatient, ungrateful, rude, crazy, acting with non-sense...she is not a person I want to hang with lately, but yeah, mum! suck it up, she is your child!!! I read a well written post on social media not long ago. The post of a toddler written by his mum describing the feelings and emotion that little boy was going through and the reason for him throwing tantrums...It really moved me and made me see parenting from my toddler point of view. ‘You are naughty Mummy, go to your room!’ And for the first time, I have been grounded by a 2 and a half year old girl that cannot reach anything above 1m10... As a mum I wanted to laugh because her bossy personality is showing day after day. I seriously want to end or at least diminishing that habit of hers which is telling me off by yelling at me. I truely believe that children copy what’s surrounding them, what they hear or could have seen. They are little sponges that absorb everything and anything. And just like that, one day, they will redo that thing they saw...or spit out loud what you could have said or opinion you gave on some random thing whilst their little ears were listening. Two days ago, Lilou was asking for my sister and I told her that she was at work but we will see her a bit later. And she replied back in french: ‘Auntie Doudou work because big butt’ (‘Tata Bouboule working because grosses fesses’) Gosh, I couldn’t stop laughing 😂 she definitely heard me saying to my sister that she had a big butt. That was absolute gold!!! Well all joke’s aside, I seriously need to watch my mouth before saying anything and most importantly making sure that my cheeky toddler is not listening! For the yelling issue, I must blame myself and I am working on it. It is hard not to yell when you are sick of saying the same thing a hundred times without results. Or even, when the kids are harassing you and you are trying to cook tea or just trying to go to the toilet... I have been way better lately, blocking out when I am busy or dropping everything to listen what she has to say. I am working on my voice tone too. All those little things that makes our place much calmer and scream free. The last thing that I want is that screaming becomes a way to communicate in my house!
