movement- artist research: Diatomic

Diatomic is a Spanish design studio based in Barcelona. They describe themselves as;

"Diatomic is a multidisciplinary creative studio based in Barcelona. We are focused on Art Direction, graphic design and illustration, with a keen eye on typography, always applying our own design vision."

I found them from this inspiration grid article on their Doppler Effect series of posters. The doppler effect itself involves the movement of sound waves and these posters depict it in a simple but effective way.

American Portraiture // Diada Nacionla de Catalyuna

I like the block colour used for "American Portraiture" as it reminds me of my own filtered images I made while doing animation.

The "Diada Nacional de Catalunya" designs work for a full festival campaign as well as nice posters. My favourite detail is the textured mockups the show what they would look like when pasted up about the city. It shows that they'd be effective in practice as well as in theory.

HEMISFERIO 05

HEMISFERIO 05 - Cover Artwork by Diatomic Studio "With this four tracks, Alexandre wants to show what is for him, the roots and meaning of techno. He took the essential and simple elements to build this EP, looking to awaken the feeling of movement and maintaining minimalism as the light of the path."

I like the diffusion used in the "HEMISFERIO 05" cover work as I'm drawn to that effect in graphic work, again simple but effective.

I like the pixelated effect used on the 'Numerografía 134" piece

I also like the glow used around the Michelin man and texture applied alongside the gradient.
