Rainbow dice appreciation 🌈✨
new dice new dice new dice
I’m just about to start reinking then to silver, so wish me luck!!!
(any tips from anyone before i start? I’m using a silver nail polish that has a fine tip, so i think i’ll be ok but if anyone’s got any advice it’d be much appreciated)
Oxi-Copper and Autumn by Chessex. These dice were already beautiful, but i wanted to add some metallic to the numbers
-re-inks
All my dice reinks in one place.
Other people have made tutorials for reinking dice, but I thought I’d share some of my tips and tricks!
Go out and buy yourself some paint markers! You can find them in most craft stores. They last longer than other permanent markers, they’re waterproof, and they’re easy to handle. They come in limited colors and shades though, so you’ll probably still want to get some acrillic paints if you have a specific color in mind
Don’t be too nitpicky when you’re applying the color. Just use rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol) on a bit of paper towel to scrub away the extra paint. It won’t hurt the dice at all
If the original paint is black, don’t try to change it to anything too light (like white). You’ll see the edges of the old color and it won’t look good
On the other hand, basically any dice can be reinked black and look fine
Before you start, check how deeply the numbers are carved into the dice. If they’re too shallow, the new paint won’t be able to completely cover the old color. d20′s are the main culprits for this, in my experience
If you don’t like the new color, drop the dice into some rubbing alcohol for a while, then scrub them with an old toothbrush to remove all the paint. This will remove everything except the original paint
Think super carefully before reinking transluscent dice. The original paint is hard to remove, so you’ll be able to see it through the other sides. Sometimes it looks cool! But keep that in mind before you do it
I’m absolutely in love with this reink I did of my HDDice White Pearl! It’s amazing how a good coat of paint can transform plain, boring dice into something really special.
Today is a good day for reinking ✌🏻
