Day 10 - A Shared Love Between Our Posse (Masterlist 2) - Day 12
Autumn time was also the start of colds making their rounds. And it hit some harder than others during that season. Dice, unfortunately, was not so lucky. He always had to be hit at the most inconvenient times. He was just on his way to the pachinko parlor when it had suddenly overcome him a few days ago. So much so that not even his usual get up had been of much help. His jacket could only do so much against the cold, before he would have shovers running down his spine.
In fact… Maybe it made things worse? It was hard to say and it wasn’t as if he had paid attention to that to begin with. Especially since it had all kicked in just out of nowhere.
Right on his merry way, unbothered, he had suddenly stopped on the spot. Luckily not in the middle of the streets but on the pedestrian way. Though he had sure gotten some onlookers from the sudden stop. How he just stood there and processed how his body was feeling from one second to the other, literally.
How he felt overall weak, weaker than usual. The sudden shiver despite no gust of wind passing by. Not just that but his mind being overall hazy, to the point it was the equivalent to a lightheaded feeling. And not the good kind, no. The bad kind. The terrible kind. The kind where one would have to endure the beating against their forehead, as if the head was close to exploding. Not just that but his nose had also suddenly started running like crazy, not stopping, and before knowing it he also sneezed. At this rate he was surprised how he managed to hold himself on his own two legs. Then again, those were shaking in place as well and felt as if they could break at any given moment.
Was this karma for the jackpot yesterday and the day before? Dice knew that it had been going a little too well, to the point it was like a dream. But he was about living in the moment so he didn’t pay much attention to the consequences which could have come from it! He was just after the moment, the adrenaline rush! That was life! How was he supposed to foresee this!? That this would happen!? But no matter! He has done it before and he can do it again! Going gambling all sick! No biggie! He’s been through worse after all! This was nothing!
Is what he would say but apparently there were other plans for him. Just a few more steps and he noticed just how he was barely carrying himself here. He tried a few more times, not wanting to surrender. But, much to his own dismay, he had to surrender. He fought for a few more minutes before the cough had gotten to him and the headache became unbearable. He could hardly focus on standing on his own two legs here.
But there was always good luck following some bad luck! And lucky for him he had been in an all too familiar area, knowing just where he had to knock. And that was crashing at Eli’s place of course! The dude had opened the door, ready for the same deadpan glare and the line ‘Sis ain’t home but I guess you can wait for them’. However, things were not like that. Instead he was just asked inside quickly, probably when seeing what state he was in. Sure, Eli had his usual quips ready but even he seemed to be at least somewhat shocked when seeing Dice in this state, at the brink of collapsing.
“Get out of those clothes, take a warm shower and lay down to sleep. I’ll tell the old man that he can’t have the couch for a while.” Old man referred to Ole. Dice had been surprised to learn that Ole was ready to give up the couch for a bit and use one of the armchairs in the time being.
But he honestly had not been paying much attention to that, being shooed on the couch pretty quickly and forced to rest. And… Well, he wanted to do nothing else than that either if he were completely honest. That sounded like heaven. And the quicker he recovered, the quicker he could make it back to gambling! That was in his mind at least. He hadn’t even considered anything else, not really at least…
So that was pretty much the day, sleeping for hours on end. Though he would eventually wake up to something… Rather sudden. Just moments ago he swore that he had been seeing the ceiling. However, when his eyes opened just moments later he had spotted them awfully close, forehead on forehead close! It made him want to sit up and reel backwards yet he was still a little too weak to do that. Though it didn’t decrease the fever… That or the fever was still just as strong, Dice couldn’t tell in this state nor was he going to worry about it.
And lucky for him this soon ended and they backed off, then mumbling to themself: “Uwah, that’s a high temperature. Dice is going to be knocked out for the next few days.” Though shortly after saying that they had noticed him awake and staring right at them, right up. And there was not much else he could do to be honest but to look at their face. Yet when they had noticed they looked as if they were somewhat shrieking before adding sheepishly: “Ah, sorry. Did I wake you up?”
“Ah… N… No, not really.” He responded, noticing just how weak his voice had gotten. He really wasn’t feeling it… “But what’re you doing here Ann? Shouldn’t you be—”
“It’s already afternoon.” They responded, though seeming to keep their voice down. “Though Eli sure gave me a big scare. He made it sound as if you were about to die.”
Dice couldn’t help but blink, though weakly. He noticed that the energy was not really with him at this point. Ah shit, talk about having a bad case of sickness here. Dammit… So all he could do was listen to them, couldn’t he?
“Well, it’s still pretty bad. Talk about a nasty cold.” They sighed, stating the obvious, only then to ask: “Do you need something?”
He was about to respond, wanting to shake his head until a voice would say from somewhere a bit further away: “You letting him sleep would be one way to help him.” Said voice being Eli’s.
They visibly shrieked, turning around and their face was out of view. But he could already heard what was going on. “Ah— I just want to help him!”
“Sis, I get that you’re worried but really. Letting him sleep is the only thing you can do. I ain’t trusting you making the fitting soup.”
“C… Come on! I can do something!”
“I got this. Ain’t you busy with your studying anyways?”
“I can make time. Plus, aren’t you on a late shift today?”
“Ole got it.”
“But… All he does is purr.”
“Place him on your guy and maybe it’ll turn out that his purring has secret healing powers.”
“Eli!”
“Worth a shot, isn’t it?”
If he had the energy Dice would probably burst out in laughter. This was hilarious to listen to. One worrying while the other just tells them off. But that’s what he’s getting more and more used to, even now. It was basically routine at this point but that was not a bad thing, was it? Having some people around who actually care… It made this a little more bearable. Though it was still hell to go through… Why did it have to hit Dice like that!? Ugh…
“But really Sis, let him rest.”
“Y… Yeah, got it.” The last thing he felt before drifting to sleep again was a hand softly ruffling through his hair. Usually it would embarrass Dice to no end but at this moment it felt… Nice. He had to admit. Yeah, nice. At least somewhat nice. And before knowing it he was off to dreamland again.
Not the best day in his life but… Could’ve been a lot worse.
Day 10 - A Shared Love Between Our Posse (Masterlist 2) - Day 12
To say that this was out of nowhere was an understatement. At first Ann did not understand what was going on nor had they thought much about it when just seeing something going on in the distance when walking home. A conversation out in the open, within the streets of Shibuya, but anyone could have guessed that maybe. After all, when seeing two people facing another and their lips are moving it would be nothing short of a conversation. Even though they were secretly guessing what it was they didn’t want to pry either. At least that was not their original intention at first. Yet they were secretly curious about the topic altogether, especially when looking at the old man.
Said old man was well dressed but also not too well dressed. One could easily tell from afar however that he was from a richer house. No, he wasn’t from a richer house. Rather he was working for a richer family, wasn’t he? An old man, with his back a little in front yet still standing up straight all the same. The uniform resembles what one would imagine a butler to look like – Primarily black jacket, trousers and shoes as well as the tie. The gloves and shirt were colored in white however, a contrast with the usual outfit yet also not really. Just the typical butler, really.
One would raise an eyebrow at the sight, wondering what business such a man could have with Dice of all people. The first best guess was that he owed some big shot money yet even Ann knew that Dice would not take such a risk. He was a guy who gambled in every way possible yet he wasn’t stupid. They would rather describe him as reckless. ‘Act first, ask questions later’ sometimes. Yet that was just how he was.
The next best thing was that he owed the assumed butler some money. That was what they wanted to guess yet when taking a look at the old man’s face, it… Didn’t seem to look like it. No, not really. There was no angry demeanor in any way nor a demanding one. No, it was a little bit of the opposite. sign of desperation. A sign of frustration. A sign of begging. Essentially the face of a pleading man, someone who was asking for something from someone else. The only thing missing was that the butler looking guy would drop on his knees and beg on them. He seemed to be at the brink of things, even if he was trying to still seem calm and composed, even in this situation.
This sight would make anyone’s eyebrow raise and it sure had Ann curious as well. They could ponder in their mind what this was about all they wanted. Yet it would never reach a reasonable conclusion. No matter how they looked at it, this sight was just a little odd. And it made them think more than it should have when it came to Dice…
Sure, they knew what type of guy he was, what type of person. Yet… If they really thought about it, something was missing here. There was a hole, one he knew how to cover up at least. Because if it had not been for recent events, maybe they would have not thought as much. Maybe things would still remain the same as always. But with the developments going on this was hard to ignore. Even though they also felt that they were getting too worked up over this. After all, would it truly change who he was in the end? Did they even want to know? Something about this was a little anxiety inducing… And they didn't know why. Something about this was… A little scary, in the sense that they were afraid of something – Their perception of Dice changing altogether.
Yet they wanted to shake it off just as quickly. This feeling of unease, in their mind, is completely unjustified. Why was it always hitting hard? Things which shouldn't matter? Then again, people are afraid of change. Finding out something they weren't sure of, what it could do. Maybe it was just a natural fear altogether.
Though they had noticed that they were staring for far too long. Honestly, they were surprised that they had not been noticed to begin with. It seemed that the two were really focused on this conversation after all. Though… There was something about Dice. He made an expression extremely rare for him.
They could see him roll his eyes and cross his arms both. Not just that but the occasional head shake and sigh. It made them want to get closer in secret, just to hear what this could be about. It would leave anyone curious after all. Especially to see the gambler truly annoyed, out of his element. It was extremely rare, given his overall carefree attitude, the one he presented at least. What could get even under this guy’s skin? Wouldn't just anyone be curious? At least a little?
Yet as they had taken a few steps forward, close enough to hear something, they saw him wave the old man off. “Sorry, I’m already busy today!” He said as he started turning around.
“But young Master!” The butler tried to protest, as if trying to reason. Yet his words… Two of them had gotten Ann to stop, stare a bit in disbelief. Did… They just hear that right? That– “Your mother—”
“She can handle herself just fine, can’t she?” They heard him respond, the tone ever so unusual for Dice. It was… Dismissive. No, bitter? It was hard to say yet the tone would get anyone to just freeze up. And that was what they did. It was… Scary. Scarier than they had imagined. The entire scene was just ever so jarring, so much so that they didn't know what to think. They only knew one thing… Getting any closer was a bad idea. Hence why they turned away shortly after. This was something they weren't supposed to hear.
Day 1 - A Shared Love Between Our Posse (Masterlist 2) - Day 3
The days were colder so the sight in front of them was honestly no surprise. Ann had seen it coming and even then it was more hilarious than anything. After all, seeing a grown guy like Dice curling into a ball in their bed. But not any type of ball. It was the type where he would curl up beneath a blanket and keep himself all warm and cozy.
Though that was no surprise, given that he probably had been stuck in the cold for who knows how long. The seasons slowly started to change, the leaves falling and the air becoming colder, a breeze always passing by. Even they could feel it despite their layers of clothes and it would make them shiver on the spot. Though it was not the coldest just yet… That is unless one probably has to sleep out in the open. This person would feel the coldest temperatures against the skin and end up freezing like crazy. It wasn't refreshing unlike summer time, it was hell probably. A hell so close to freezing over or right in the process of doing so. It was just preparing itself before it all just comes crashing down and the temperatures would become unbelievably cold.
Hence why it had surprised no one that Dice had showed up at the door step yet again, shivering like crazy before having fallen onto his knees and begging for shelter. He was of course let in yet Eli redirected the gambler to Ann pretty much right away. “One of your boyfriends, you’ll take care of him.” They didn't even have a choice in the matter yet they would lie if they had said that they would have minded to begin with. They didn't. That was a fact.
And that’s basically how Dice had ended up on their bed, clutching on the blanket as if his life depended on it while also having an expression of relief on his face. “Yeah, that’s worth livin’ for!” He said, the grin forming on his face as he did. And he didn't seem to come out of that spot anytime soon.
Anyone would usually complain that he kept the bed occupied, hogging a blanket all to himself and refused to share. Yet it looked hilarious more than anything if not just flat out adorable. How could they stay mad at him or feel bothered by it? Honestly, they just wanted to mess with him instead. Or maybe take that chance and… Well, you’ll see.
It was why they had suddenly crawled onto the bed, the little space which had been left. It was usually big enough for only one person yet the two managed to squeeze themself onto it before and sleep that way… Even if it ended up with one of them being used as the stuffed toy cuddled to sleep and have the other in the ear. Yet it was something both had gotten used to at this point so it didn't bother either anymore. Or rather, it was Ann who had to adjust to it. Dice was not bothered by it from the start. Then again, anything would probably beat a bench in the bark as something to sleep on, even if the space was limited.
Besides, he had not noticed them at first, even when the bed had been creaking a little. It wasn't until they grabbed his head with their hands and turn him into their direction, making him face them. The grin faded for a short moment and he looked at them with somewhat wide eyes. Yet it was not a surprise either, not really at least. It seemed more that he was waiting for what they had to say and they didn't intend on letting him wait. Instead they first chuckled, then asking in a little more playful tone: “Do you have some room for me?” They could not hold back their grin either. It was impossible around this man. He always managed to get this side out of them, at least when the both of them were all alone. It was like a temptation, one they could not resist nor dared to resist. Especially with his reactions.
Even the one right now amused them more than anything else. They could already feel the warmed up cheeks as their palms held onto them, even squeezing them lightly. Yet the red hue would also show itself. Oh if he just had any idea how adorable he was. But say it into his face and he would just vehemently deny it. So it was no point arguing with him in that regard, as fun as this banter usually was. “Tha– Erm… Well… No! There isn’t!” He responded with a sudden huff yet his intention was obvious. He just wanted to keep them out of the blanket to save himself the embarrassment. It was an attempt but a weak one.
“Really? But I could help you warm up too.” Ann teased as they got closer with their face, only merely inches away from his, looking right into his violet eyes. These were trying to look away yet seemed to struggle and instead kept staring right into theirs.
“Ya… don't have to…”
“Haha, but I insist. Come on, let me help.”
“I… It’s warm ‘nough. So–” Yet before he could even dare finishing such a bold claim they took the chance to grab a part of the blanket, crawl beneath it and being stuck right next to him, to the point the two were squished against one another. “Woha! Wait, what are you–”
“Help you warm up. Now come here Dice~”
“I– Woha, wait up I–” Yet no chance to finish whatsoever. Not when they were embracing him and launched their head forward so that their lips met.
And that was just the start but… The rest of that story has to stay private. Let’s just say that he was all warmed up by the end of the day. And they were responsible.

Summary: Just when Dice thought that he could forget the time where he put Ann on the spot with a choice - To give him money or to marry him - they have to remind him in the worst way possible!

Sometimes one thinks that it cannot get worse, it just can't. However, someone would always make sure to give you the appropriate lesson, one way or another, and there is nothing you could do about it. Because it technically happened and you cannot deny it. So all you could do was stand there in shock, growing pale while having to take it in. Because even if you protest, the past will come haunting you. No, it already did just that. And for Dice it took shape in one sentence.
“Ah, me? I'm Dice's fiancée. I apologize for any trouble he has caused you.“
That sentence hit harder than it should. It may as well be a punch right into the guts. Especially since Ann themself had said it with no shame, no hesitation, no stuttering. None of that. In fact, their smile shortly after had only made it worse. They were saying it with no issues. All so he relived the following conversation.
“ Ya gotta choose! Either you give me some money or you marry me! ”
“ Alright, I’ll accept. Let’s get married. ”
He had been left speechless at the time, only staring for a good moment when they had agreed on this. And how this conversation ended… It was something he could never live down.
“Who knew being a finacée is so much fun~ You know, I actually can’t wait to get married now!”
And he firmly believed that they were just teaching him a lesson, to not pull this shit on them when asking for money. The direct approach never worked yet at worst Ann just told him “No”. However, maybe they had been angry when Dice was asking like that, at least he assumed. So he promised not to do that anymore, knowing how this would end. And he thought that was just a lesson. However, some time passed, he nearly forgot and they started to introduce themself as his ‘future spouse’. And it had him always speechless. And yet, things would only become worse…
“Fiancée!?” One of the guys said out loud, said ‘guys’ being some gambling friends Dice had made over time. All of them meet up by chance to hit the machines or play a match of poker and hope to win big eventually. Well, one of them borrowed more money than the others, usually Dice. So they were all in disbelief when hearing that he of all people had a fiancée. “Wh… When did that–”
“Oh, not too long ago. Don't worry~” Ann responded, not even giving anyone else a chance to have a word in this nor protest it. No chance in the slightest. “Not many people know yet.”
“Woha… Didn't know you already found someone. Nor did I think that anyone would take you.“ One of the guys said, facing Dice directly. “Why didn't you say somethin’?“
The self–proclaimed professional gambler was still somewhat processing the situation. Firstly, ow! That hurt deeply! No, it really did. He wasn't that unattractive… Right? But the other thing, which was way more important, was that… Well that… Isn't super wrong. The two are a couple, dating in fact. But this– “Hold on, ya seriously believe that they're–”
“Haha, Dice doesn't like making a big fuss out of it.” His partner interrupted, suddenly clinging onto one of his arms with both of their own to drag him closer, his own arm pressed right against them. A quick glance over to them and he saw that ever so carefree smile. One he was slowly getting used to as more time passed yet always at least somewhat caught off guard by. “Besides, you know how he is, don't you? When it comes to gambling, anything can slip his mind!”
Was that how they thought about him sometimes!? For real now!? … Ok maybe that's not completely wrong… But…
“Fair ‘nough.” The guy said in response before continuing: “So future Arisugawa–San, care to join us for a bit?” Hold on, future Arisugawa!? Why is everyone taking five steps ahead here!? Ah great… And yet, maybe for a second Dice did not exactly dislike the thought… A future Arisugawa… Arisugawa Ann… Huh. It didn't sound half bad to be ho– Hold on he shouldn't think that! It's not the time! He had to sort this mess out somehow! After all, Ann was just pulling everyone's leg here!
“Huh? Me? Gambling with you guys?” They asked however, as if having to make sure. Oh they came along for a reason though, didn’t they? And he could almost feel that the reason was– “I mean if it’s ok. Someone has to look after Dicey’s gambling expenses. Right?” Yeah, that’s wh—
“Wait, Dicey!?” Hearing and repeating that out loud made Dice a literal mess, his cheeks – no, face – all red and his entire body feeling warmer. He wasn’t sure how to feel about this, how to react. But they may as well got him on a leash now, trapped, no escape. And all he could do now was take it all in. Whether he liked it or not. Just as a spouse probably would. Was that how this worked actually? Hard to say, not like he ever experienced it nor had he thought he ever would. He was really questioning it now… Was Ann serious? Dead serious? Super serious!? Actually serious!? That… All of that… Well… No way, right? They gotta be shitting everyone here. He can’t buy into this! He can’t!
And yet, they turned to him once he had repeated it, looking at him ever so innocently. It was obvious that they were pretending and yet… How could he fight back at their smile honestly? It was impossible to do. No matter the intentions behind it, he just got weak. At least a little. “Yeah. Is that a problem?” They asked with that chuckle before tightening their grip a little on him. “My little Dicey~ Don’t tell me you’re still not used to it.”
“I… That…” Still not used to it!? They never called him that before until now! What the—
“Ok lovebirds. Ya want a room?” One of the guys laughed out of nowhere when taking in the scene, making the both of them turn their heads. Needless to say, the gambler was all embarrassed, wanting to hide his own face at this point, maybe even storming out of the casino for once. This was a mistake, a big one! Ann was talking nonsense and everyone was believing it! All because he was too flustered to say a thing or they would get ahead of him! Was this what he was going to be known for now!? An engaged man in his twenties!? Wasn’t that a little too early actually!? He was too young for this! The two barely even—
“Sorry, force of habit.” They responded however, finally letting go of him. “I just can’t help myself sometimes, right?” As if awaiting a reply they were looking at him again, the smile… That damned smile! They were having their fun and they knew it all too well! Everyone just ate the shit up in the end and there was nothing he could do about it… He had to play along until finding the right time to sort out this mess, didn’t he? Great…
“R… Right…” He responded, at the brink of mumbling though only because it was just… A lot. It was a lot. A lot to take in. Talk about inconvenience.
Then again, maybe deep down Dice wasn’t entirely against the idea… But it’s way too early to think about that, isn’t it!? He’s too young for it, they’re too young for it! ‘sides, not like the two could ever get married anyway! … And yet, the idea doesn’t sound too bad…
Maybe– Ah no, what was he thinking? Of course not! Nevermind…

It was late when Ann had been returning home. Eli had already been asleep so it was up to Ole to scold them… Which was honestly just lots of pawing as well as meowing. ‘How dare you come home late!? We were worried sick! Do you know what hour it is!? Do you have an excuse for yourself!?’ and so on and so forth. Honestly, ever since things had gone awfully for their family, it was as if the cat had become their guardian or something. Maybe he did see himself as their father. Nah, just kidding. Probably not.
But really, the scolding was so loud that the meowing echoed through the entire hallway. One would believe that he was begging for food yet that was not the case. After they had apologized Ole had huffed for a moment before turning away and most likely going to his beloved couch to rest on. He is a sleepy old man after all. He needed his rest. Not just that but he probably had wasted all of his own energy on this.
Ann had no power to fight it. All they did was walk to their room shortly after as well, just wanting to sleep. That’s all they wanted to do. They had been out since the early morning and the project they were working on took more time than expected. Then later they had also bumped into Gentaro who was messing with them, as usual. Hah… And then Ramuda, the thoughts keeping them up as well… So much had been going on, zapping every possible energy out of them. They just wanted to collapse and not think about it. Just for tonight… Sleep and forget. This was all to worry about in the morning.
So, they opened the door to their room, not thinking too much about anything… Yet the sight had them caught off guard. Their room had already been occupied, their bed especially. Not just that but the plushies had been piled right on it, surrounding a large figure who was laying there. Arms out, one dangling down from the bed. The snores were loud and were only interrupted with some loud mumbles in between… No, sleep talking.
“Hehe~ Big win~” or “Jackpot~ Take that~” Stuff like that. And when taking a closer look they could see how wide that grin was despite the darkness in question. And the chuckles in between. As well as the occasional ‘nya’ escaping the mouth, as if a cat… Looks like Dice had decided to pay Eli and Ole a visit while they were out. And then he fell asleep in their room because… They didn’t know. Maybe he was waiting for them and just fell asleep. He didn’t even bother to place the plushies down for space. Nor did he change out of his usual clothes… Something only Eli might dread when he smells the bedsheets. Ann themself? They didn’t mind. Nor had the energy to care.
All they did was look at his sleeping figure after having turned a dim light on, just enough to see. They then walked over to their bed and kneeled down, having a closer look at their boyfriend. He was literally just snoozing a– Wait, is he holding onto one of their plushies?
They had just taken note but he is, hugging one of their bigger ones. Their favorite one on that. That was… Surprising yet also endearing in a sense. Usually they would pick it to sleep with when alone. Did he remember when they told him or was it luck? It was hard to say but seeing that… They didn’t mind. In fact it made them smile, feel at ease.
For a second they had forgotten all the stress and caught themself watching Dice sleep. Despite all the loud snoring he looked… Adorable. Yeah, very much so. They couldn’t stop staring. The sight of him sleeping in a plush pile, inside their bed… It was… Very cute. So much so that they couldn’t resist and poke him with one of their fingers a few times.
Though for a moment they thought that they had woken him up as he had paused the snoring and some other noises escaped his mouth. Their finger retreated quickly, watching if it was really that… Until they heard him chuckle ever so sleepy, then softly saying: “More please~”
‘Hah, what a needy guy.’ They thought yet didn’t seem to mind. In fact, they felt their lips curling upwards, a smile forming. They enjoyed it a lot.
“More you say…” They whisper all of a sudden, voice having gone very soft. “Give me a moment. I’ll be right back to give you more. Promise~”
Despite everything… Leave it to Dice to help Ann calm down. Even if it was only for a short moment, his presence alone made them forget any possible stress. Maybe that is the secret power of his charms.

One of the several occurrences of the night sky being all clear and visible, making sure that each star could be seen. However, what was not so common for Dice was that he was in company. And he wasn’t talking about Ramuda’s or Gentaro’s, no. He didn’t know how or why he had ended up there but maybe he shouldn’t sweat the details so much. It was just his luck, per usual. though he wished that he had so much luck when it came to hitting up the jackpot at a casino or something… But maybe that’d be asking Lady Luck for too much. And besides… He had decided to tag along once having spotted a certain someone out alone this late, when it was already night. Given that the days had gotten warmer and thus shorter it meant that they had been out pretty late. And who knew what would happen to them if no one looked after them. Even if he would receive the usual comment…
“ Says the one who basically lives outdoors. ”
“ Th… That’s different! I’m used to it and I can defend myself against some thugs! You however… Don’t wanna have Eli and yer cat on my ass if anythin’ happens to ya! ” Or so had been Dice’s explanation.
Long story short in the end Dice had accompanied Ann for their night walk apparently. Why they had taken one… He couldn’t figure it out and they refused to tell him. Probably to avoid some type of scolding or something. Anyways, the two were stuck with another for some time. Wait, that sounded as if he didn’t want to be around them. And it was not as if he didn’t want to just… Hmm…
Ah, right! It was hard to put into words, given the sudden change in atmosphere. What was first just some talk and teasing while walking through the streets changed when they just had to point out the night sky, making him look up for a moment. Though at first he had been confused, admittedly.
“What ‘bout it?” He asked, as clueless as one could imagine him getting. There was no difference from what he would usually see when going to sleep on that park bench, would he? Some stars, maybe clouds passing by… Yeah, no difference whatsoever. Just the same old view, right? Then again, they would give him sort of an answer soon enough and he at least got a bit of a hint when feeling them lean against him a little.
“A couple under the night sky alone… The oldest clichée in the book, isn’t it?” They would point out, making him process it for a few moments before his eyes went very wide all of a sudden.
“Eh!? W… Wait… Y… You mean…” He began to stutter, noticing his gaze wandering around. As long as he had not looked at them. But that would be very short lived…
“Hey, look at me while talking.” They complained, though sounding playful about it all the same. He first hesitated, not too certain what to expect from this yet he was not left with much of a choice. Deep breath and get it over with…
That was until he saw their face, having their eyes closed all of a sudden and lips puckered up slightly. It had him completely caught off guard for a second there… Even though he probably should be used to this from Ann of all people.
He wanted to ask what this was about yet he could already tell. He wasn’t that dense after all. They were waiting for something, weren’t they? And he knew damn well what they were waiting for! “You’re impossible sometimes…” He mumbled before looking around. He had not been sure, maybe just in case someone he knew was around the corner and would interrupt this moment or something.
So anyways, he leaned down a little with his head, closing his own eyes. He could feel the slight redness on his face however. No matter how many times, this was all new and hard to get used to… As excited as he was about this, judging from yet another rush overcoming him. Not just that but also the constant pounding inside his chest… The same old stuff he had felt many times in different contexts yet a feeling he just never grows tired of.
It was short… No, wait. It was supposed to be short. Just a peck on the lips or something! And yet he would not be let off the hook so easily. Because before knowing it he felt their arms wrap around his neck to keep him in place, unintentionally also pushing him down a little. It had him caught off guard visibly yet he dared not to pull back. He couldn’t to be honest, he did like the feeling of their lips after all. That didn’t make this any less of a sudden turn of events.
The kiss the two had shared was unexpectedly deep, very passionate, lips mingling over and over. There hasn’t really been any build up to it. This just happened. He couldn’t help himself as much as Ann themself couldn’t. Because before knowing it Dice’s arms had wrapped around their waist and pushed them a little closer against himself. It had just overcome him as well. Hah… So much for keeping it short and brief. He was always falling into their traps, wasn’t he? This ain’t funny anymore…
Though the moment would soon come to an end. Both finally had pulled back, at least enough for their lips to part. One would have to catch their breath before speaking again. So for a few seconds the two were just caught up looking into another’s eyes, somewhat in awe. It was not often that this was a mood between the couple but… He had no complaints at least. He was just too caught up in the moment for that.
However, the silence had broken a little bit later. “Say Dice… Why not come over tonight?” Ann had asked him, voice softer than before and the smirk visible on their face.
He knew of the implications… Yeah, he did. He had a clue. And yet, he knew he wanted to. There was no escape now, even if he wanted to try. “A… And skip out on a night of gambling?”
“You say but you were walking out of that parlor when we bumped into another.”
“Ah—” They got him there, as much as he didn’t want to admit it. It was impossible for him to win against them, wasn’t it? “You’re never going to cut me some slack, are ya?”
“Hmm… Maybe one day, if I feel like it~”
It only left him to sigh. “And yet, I’m still keeping up with you.” He whispered though refused to let go all the same. He could just never get the upper hand in these things, could he? “Fine. I’ll crash at your place tonight.”
“Great. Let’s get going then~ I’m already looking forward to it.”
And the rest of the night… The rest of it is history.

“Uwaah! Cold cold cold!” This would probably echo through all the streets of the small area within Shibuya right now, close to a soft ice cream stand. Dice had maybe licked on it a bit too quickly, wanting to devour it in one go. But who could blame him!? He had not eaten in days and just wanted to get something between his teeth! Or right on his tongue… And he was talking about food here, nothing else! And in the heat some ice could hit the spot! Well, that was until his tongue felt as if it had been frozen in place, the coldness on it short lived but that didn’t make it any less painful! Hell it doesn’t! But whatever, once it passes he has every intention to gobble up the soft ice cream in his hand! Beggars can't be choosers after all!
He had been pretty lucky actually, bumping into Ann at a time like this. With him sitting on the sidewalk all hunched up, holding his stomach and all of that… The hunger had finally gotten to him. Sure, he could probably pay his pal Eli a visit for food but… One, he had been a little too weak. Two, Dice couldn’t barge in all the time! Sure, the dude never said no, as annoyed as he was sometimes, but… Eh, no need to think about it too hard. Dude’s busy as is.
So anyways, back to the topic at hand… The moment he had spotted the brunette Dice had reached out his hand, though weakly, and tugged on their jeans for a moment. It forced them to turn around and look, probably seeing him all hunched over and hungry. Even hearing his stomach growl! He could feel their gaze, he didn’t even have to lift his head up. He could feel it, the usual gaze they would have and he was all too used to it. They didn’t even need to say anything either and before knowing it they had just left him. At first he was almost ready to follow them on his knees, crawling yet there was no need in the end. Not when he heard footsteps returning and he lifted his head up slowly, only to spot them returning with something in both of their hands – Soft ice cream, two of them. Same flavor but that didn’t matter.
And once Dice had seen it his mouth had started watering, almost literally. Oh it had been life saving, they soon knelt down to meet eye–to–eye with him and shove one of them in front of his face. “ It’s not much but… Here. I guess it’s better than nothing. ”
And that was how he had gotten his hands on something to eat and was now munching on what he had gotten… Even if it had resulted in a cold tongue for a second. Still hurt like hell by the way! As for Ann, they had seated themself right next to him on the sidewalk.
“Of course that would happen if you didn’t slow down.” They sighed and when he turned to them he saw their blank expression, as if nearly judging him!
“You go without somethin’ to eat for days…” He countered, still sticking his tongue out to warm it up. Why can’t it heal faster damn it!?
“Eli and Ole would get on my case, can’t do that.” They shrugged before going silent for a moment, as if eyeing Dice closely. They had even leaned a little forward, first staring before suddenly commenting with a straight face: “Want me to make it feel better?”
He only stared at his partner for a good moment, tongue still out however. He said nothing, only staring and staring… Before understanding the implication and nearly backing off. What the hell!? How could they say something just like that to begin with!?
And yet, they nearly seemed to insist, getting a little closer. “But it won’t do any good if you look like a dog with his tongue out. There’s gotta be something I can do.”
He didn’t answer verbally, just shaking his head and praying that it got the message across. He’ll be just fine, no need to go that far or worry! Nor to go that far… Was it funny to them or something!?
“Are you sure? I don’t mi—” But he would not give them a chance!
As if proving his point Dice turned back to his cone and… Gulped everything down in one go! The soft cream and the cone, all gone in a matter of seconds! He was even chewing quickly, and then swallowing!
That would prove to be a mistake however. Not just his tongue was burning like hell now, his head was suffering from some massive brain freeze! He jumped up and yelled very loudly, being in massive pain! He may as well have felt it across his entire body! It hurt like crazy and had him shiver for a good few seconds before finally calming down, breathing in and out heavily. He just wanted to catch his breath honestly… This was more intense than he thought!
“D… Dice! Are you alright!?” He heard Ann’s voice ask. One glance to the side revealed them having gotten up and looking with the utmost concern… Genuine concern. Ah crap…
“Y… Yeah. I’m fine… Nothin’ I couldn’t handle.” He responded, though a little weakly. But that much was true. He had endured way worse than this. A bit of brain freeze was nothing! “G… Gimme a minute…”
A few breaths later and he got himself together, being all composed again! Well, composed for his own standards, but he was still standing and before knowing it was laughing it off with the hands on his hips. “See there? No need for ya to worry!”
“There’s a lot of need to worry…” He heard them counter however, even if it was a little more quiet at first. Oh boy, here we go, the usual scolding. “Sure, you were hungry but you should have taken it slow. Well, you should always do that but especially this time.”
“I’m still alive, ain’t I?”
“W… Well… Yeah but—”
“Seriously, I’m more surprised that ya still got time worryin’ ‘bout me y’know.” He was just trying to reassure them if anything. There really was no need for concern in that regard. It’s been years since he was living his life on the streets and every time he made it out alive. “Appreciated but not needed.”
“That doesn’t make it any better.” He heard them sigh. “Listen, you might be lucky now but it could bite you in the ass eventually.”
“I’m takin’ my chances.”
“So you would be ready to throw your life away? Just like that?”
“Life in itself’s a massive gamble y’know.”
But that would only earn him an even blanker stare, almost as if they were trying to look through his flesh and just wanting to see his soul, if he meant it. And… Well, he meant it, yeah. Nothing else to see there. It was met with a head shake right after. “You only make me want to keep an eye on you all the time…”
“Eh? Like some kid? But I ain’t—”
“It would be an excuse to hang out more as well… Hmm… Maybe I should, could be fun~” And there was that grin and chuckle for a moment before they became all serious again. “But really, you need to stop being so re—”
“Never. A gamble’s a gamble!”
“Of course it is. Sorry… I’ll just babysit you from now on.”
“Hah!? Oi, there’s no need!”
“That’s too bad then. Because there’s no chance that I’m letting you die.”
Babysit… They were unbelievable sometimes! Seriously… Although, wait a minute… “Uh, you plan on eating that?”
“Hm? Eating wha— Ah, right. Unless you want it?”
“Huh? Ya mean it.”
“Yeah, may as well have an indirect kiss while at it~”
Wait, indirect— “H… Hold on a sec—!”
“And I’ll feed you so you won’t chuck it down too quickly. Open wide~”
“Wait wait wait that—” But it was too late now… Dice and his mouth sometimes. Why? Because in the end he ended up being fed by Ann, whether he liked it or not!
… Ok fine he liked it. But that didn’t make it any less embarrassing for a while.

Summary: It all started by Ann confiscating Dice's winnings. At first it was simple teasing but eventually... It becomes a little more than that.

Oh they could be so cruel. So very cruel, much to Dice’s own dismay. Just when he had finally gotten some money to gamble away, having successfully managed to win some double, Ann was just around the corner and quickly snatched it out of his hands. And they would keep it for some time, making sure that he would see nothing from it.
“This is theft!” He shouted, trying to get through them that way yet they did not seem to think so. Oh, far from it. He was even growling a little bit, something he rarely did. All while trying to snatch the money back from them. And yet, they had it hidden from him, all too well. Oh where the hell was it!? Where did they store it!? This was insane! Taking a man’s winnings, just like that! He was not liking that, at all! Oh not in the slightest! And yet, any argument he was trying to throw at them got shot down in an instant. And by that he meant that he was completely ignored for one, them not even responding to anything he was saying. Even as he walked right beside them and trying to make his stance clear.
“I won this fair ‘n square! Now gimme my money back!” He insisted, one of the few times where he had become nearly furious with them until they had suddenly stopped dead in their tracks, facing him… Unfazed by his current way of acting.
“I’m not stealing it, I’m keeping it safe from you.” They explained. “After all, I can’t have my fiancée stay in so much debt.”
“Fia– For the last time, no one has proposed to anyone here!”
“Oh? But the time where you asked me to give you money or marry you—”
“I said I was sorry! Please let it go already!” Of course they would bring it up however. The rumor had spread like wildfire, even the other gambling dudes knew.
“ Dice, you’re getting married? ”
“ Congrats! Maybe I should ask your cute, little wi— Ahem, spouse to help repay your debt. They seem to be the one with the leash after all. ”
“ Aren’t you two a little too young to marry? You’re 20 and they’re like what? A year younger than— Wait… They’re 22!? Damn, didn’t know ya liked ‘em older! But seriously, you two sound too young to marry. ”
They were all believing it. Each of them were buying it, thinking that Ann was seriously going to get married to Dice. And that was something he had mixed feelings on. Mainly because he knew that this was his punishment most likely and they were still mad about that time where he put them on the spot with a choice. Even with his countless apologies… Then again, none of that would bring back his money.
“Are you sure? You sounded very serious~” They teased him however, having a rather playful smile on their face. “After all, putting me on the spot by making me choose between two things I would refuse to do otherwise~”
“And… Ya picked marriage because…?”
“If there’s one thing I’d never do above all else, it is lending you money~” And they said it so shamelessly too, not even hesitating with their wording.
It made him flinch, so much so that he was staggering a little backwards, as if his heart had been shot right then and there. He even faced the ground for a moment. “Th… That hurt…”
“Oh come on, you should be happier about it!” He heard them say as steps came closer, only to feel their hands grab onto both of his cheeks and make him lift his head up so he could face them directly, then pouting a little. “Shouldn’t a marriage be more worth than some money you borrowed?”
That… Was a surprising sentence to hear from Ann of all people. Very in fact. “Didn’t ya just say that ya didn’t want to get married?”
“Well, yeah. But if I had to pick between ever borrowing you money or getting married… Consider me fair game for marriage.”
That… Were they serious? “So you’d marry a person to not let them borrow your money?”
“No. I’d just marry you so I wouldn’t have to borrow you money.” They chuckled, at first glance it sounded like a joke. And yet, when hearing a little closely, there was a hint of seriousness in their voice. Not just that but the smile for a second did not match up. It felt a little… Too genuine? Was that a fitting way to phrase it? And yet, he could see from their expression… They… Meant it. By some twist maybe they meant it after all? Getting married… Or did they just like the idea? Either way, they didn’t seem to be… Against it. That’s the least he could conclude.
It had left him speechless for a good second, wanting to turn away yet the moment he tried he remembered that they had a tight grasp on his cheeks, not making his face move away from theirs.
“Spending time with someone you love for eternity sounds better than money, doesn’t it?” They threw in at the end of it all, making him flush for a moment. It was one sentence which got him like this, all because it had caught him off guard.
“W… Well… I…” He had to think for a moment. Marriage… Maybe back then he would have refused, said no, but if he was allowed to choose who he would be bound to… “It doesn’t—”
Yet no chance to finish. Before he knew it he got a quick peck on his lips with their own before they had pulled away, letting go of his face. It was really short lived but enough to interrupt his answer. And he had just been ready to give them one too!
“Hey, don’t worry about it. It was just a silly question.” They responded, taking a step backwards. “Who cares if we actually get married or not anyways? We don’t need something like that to spend time with each other for as long as possible, right?”
“But… You just said—”
“Haha, I know. But that’s how most people would describe it… I guess. What’d be the difference if we just called another husband and spouse without a ceremony? Ever thought about that?”
“Guess there wouldn’t be any di—” Yet then it shot through Dice’s mind. Wait, if he said anything wrong here then… “Hold on, that’s another trap of yours, ain’t it!?”
“A trap? What could you possibly mean~?” Oh their playful tone didn’t help, at all!
“Oh I know your tricks by now! I ain’t falling for that! Nah–ah! I ain’t listenin’!”
“Alright, fine. If you say so~ Guess you don’t want your money back then~”
Ah–!? Right, they still had that! For crying out loud… “You were supposed to give it back to me! I won it!”
“Hmm… Ok, but only if you listen to me for the rest of the night and pay for drinks again~”
“Hah!? You’re playing unfair!”
“Then no—”
“Ok ok fine! Just give it back to me, please!
And even now they managed to play him like a fiddle… Then again, it’s not as if he hated it. At most he was just a little peeved but nothing more.
