Bob Foster KOs Dick Tiger to capture the Light Heavyweight Championship
Bob Foster becomes the first and only man to knock out former middleweight and light heavyweight champion Dick Tiger.

A strange confluence of history here.
Dick Tiger is arguably the greatest boxer that Nigeria has ever produced. He’s in the boxing hall of fame as the former lineal middleweight and light heavyweight champion and two time Ring Magazine fighter of the year (1962 &1965). He was also a lieutenant in the Biafran army during the Nigerian Civil War. This led to him being banned from Nigeria for basically most of the end part of his life up until it became known that he was diagnosed with liver cancer. The cancer would eventually take him at the age of 42.
Rubin “Hurricane” Carter is a NJ boxer who’s career was cut short when he was arrested for a triple homicide conducted in Paterson, a crime he probably didn’t actually do. At the very least, there were a number of anomalies in the police’s handling of the arrest and investigation.
