A translation
Noora: "He opened up completely... I don't know what I was doing before, but I understand how he thinks now." Translation: My boyfriend who is supposed to love me shamed me so much over MY emotional response to MY sexual assault that I became a nervous wreck, always walking on eggshells so that he doesn't stop loving me because MY sexual assault became about how HE was the victim. I was so terrified of his emotional manipulation and gaslighting that I fled the country in the middle of the night so he couldn't stop me and convince me to stay. Then, I chose not to contact him for months because I didn't trust myself not to get enmeshed. Then, he showed up and physically intimidated me, took over my personal space, and used my attraction to him as a weapon. He explained to me about how all my actions and feelings were wrong and how he was misunderstood and he'd been right all along. I now know that I hurt him by having an incorrect response to my own emotions and trauma and that true love MEANS walking on eggshells out of terror of doing something wrong and being abandoned. It's totally fine that he uses leaving me/emotionally detaching from our relationship as a sword of Damocles. We're so happy!
Basically watching Billy watch season 2 is hurting me and also I’m still dreading getting a William clip in a season that is supposed to be about Sana.
Every once in a while I’ll see a post saying “why do people hate William so much? You shouldn’t judge people off of surface details. The other characters are flawed too.”
I hate William because he did not simply do one or two things wrong, but he did a whole shitton of things that were fucked up. He slept with Vilde without a condom when she was drunk and then acted like he didn’t know her afterwards. He told her that she wasn’t good enough and only started giving her the time of day in order to use her to get to her friend. When Noora called him out on this, he said “I had to be an asshole so that she wouldn’t be interested” but he could have just said that he wasn’t interested before they had sex. He could have chosen not to have sex with her. He could have told her afterwards when she was under the impression that they were a couple. Oh, and he also could have not used Vilde’s interest in him as a way to get Noora to go out on a date with him.
There is also that he ditched Noora when she was terrified and told her that he didn’t love her anymore. She was the one who thought she had gotten raped, but he acted like he was the victim in all this. That is fucked up.
I don’t believe in judging people based off of one or two good or bad things that they did, but I do believe in looking at the pattern. The only time I ever really liked William was when Noora was freaking out about Nico and she couldn’t sleep and he comforted her and held her until she slept. But again, one isolated act of kindness doesn’t cancel out how he was horrible to her for the rest of the season.
Oftentimes people quote the thing that Noora has on her wall about how everyone is fighting a battle you know nothing about. But why does it only apply to excusing William’s behavior? William didn’t think that “oh, maybe Vilde is fighting a battle I know nothing about, maybe I should be kind to her instead of sleep with her, ignore her afterwards, lead her on in order to blackmail her friend into dating me, and then go right back to ignoring her.” He also didn’t seem to think “gee, I never actually told Noora that Nico was a predator when she met him so she had no idea that she needed to have her guard up around him. Also she was acting like she was traumatized for the past few weeks and when I asked if she slept with Nico, she said ‘I don’t know.’ If it was consensual, she would have known.”
It also bothers me that we got a storyline of him fighting with these guys and we never got their side of the story. We got the side of the story that was most flattering for William and made him sound like a hero, but what the hell were the other guys motives. That guy who had a bottle get broken over his head and could have been seriously injured, what does he think? Is he fighting a battle that we know nothing about? Should we be kind, always, to him too?
Or does it not actually matter?
when skam finds your william hate and puts it in the last clip lmao
same tbh
I fixed it! what a good clip (with no w*llhelm anywhere to be seen who is william idk her :))
what a beautiful day to rewatch s3
Ok so now we can easily add this to the collection of moments when William was insanely creepy
