ontario gov raising minimum wage by 3.3% to $15.50 an hour in october (up from $15 flat) which is entirely meaningless and then raising the rent cap for landlords by 2.5% next year so the entire thing is pointless. that's like an extra $20 a month for people VS landlords who already charge $2500 for the shittiest two bedroom apartment raising the rent by $65. entirely unhelpful

and then the canadian gov was like "to combat the housing crisis, we want to give low income canadian renters a single-time cheque to help with the cost of rent. the amount we are giving everyone is exactly $100" go to hell, it would be less offensive if you didn't even bother actually
