...You know, as an enthusiast of the public domain it will forever annoy me that, as far as enchanted weapons go, there's no real good magic firearms/magic bullets in folklore (Silver/glass bullets don't count) and public domain literature aside from Die Freischutz...

prepping the chorus for my first big-girl-professional-company-and-not-school opera, Die Freischütz! Then in a few weeks it’s off to Oregon for some Dritte Dame goodness in Die Zauberflöte. It’s a very Deutcsher Sommer for me 🇩🇪

Something weird I noticed, in the very few legends about magic firearms (at least that I know of), neither of them involve the actual gun being magical; but the bullets instead.

IE, the legends surrounding silver bullets, and the legends surrounding Die Freischutz; IE that one where the Devil gives a hunter in the woods 7 magic bullets that always hit; always kill; but one of them belongs to the devil to do as he will with.

That says something very interesting, though I don’t quite know what it is...

Bizarre Things: Yu-Gi-Oh and Tom Waits both did a thing based on the same story, one of the few pieces of folklore with magical firearms around.
