meet nicole garcia, my godbinder in the game of die ttrpg i'm playing in! she's from florida, she works part-time at a tj maxx, part time voice acting, and has three disabled cats. her closest bond of the gods is with gertrude, the goddess of the wilds, and she asked for every single cat modification she got. now she has a tail, claws, ears, and cat eyes (including night vision!)

right now we're at a masquerade ball and nicole's god debt from amor, the god of love, is to win someone's heart there. she does not feel confident in her ability to do this, but i can't wait to see how it turns out :3c

Marvel's Runaways x DIE

With the recent cover art for the new run of Marvel Runaways by Stephanie Hans, my old obsession with the tv show of Marvels Runaways has been re-awakened and is mixing with my current obsession with Die. So without further ado, the original Runaways and their Die Classes.

Alex Wilder: Master. Yeah I know it seems like Alex would be best suited to a Neo, he's a hacker in canon after all. However it feels like Alex would be the most likely to be tempted into initiating Die as he was stated in Canon to be interested in RPGS online and was desperate to re-unite his old friends, and I could very easily see him pretend to be a Neo using his masters abilities (could very easily replicate a Neo's hacking abilities using Rules Mastery, specifically Manipulate Mechanism) and equipment (Masters can pick out a handgun as equipment like a Neo) to fit in with his friends or hide the fact that he was the one who instigated the game.

Nico Minoru: Godbinder. Nico in canon is a Wiccan and practitioner of modern paganism, this makes her a perfect candidate for a Godbinder in the world of die, and the class best reflects her varied spell based abilities. You could even set it up with her having a unique Contract with a god who only grants unique miracles if we want to be comic accurate to her powers with the Staff Of One. Her sister could very easily be a fallen in the world of Die for extra heartache and angst.

Karolina Dean: Master. Two masters is a bit risky, but Karolina is meant to be the offspring of the Magistrate (who in this canon would likely be something close to the Grandmaster) and that bloodline would have to give her some unique powers, adding into this the risk element of the Masters spellcasting could be that her use of her powers risks drawing the attention of the Magistrate. Also her range of powers from flight to energy blasts, light generation and shield creation fits best to a Masters versatility.

Chase Stein: Emotion Knight. Chases reliance on a single weapon makes him best suited to be an Emotion Knight, while I could see an argument for Neo due to the Fistigons tech nature. I would disagree as he doesn't seem to use much varied tech in show but instead focues on the Fistigons, Rage knight seems the best suited for him based on his agressive outbursts in response to abuse from his father and it seems like the sort of thing Die would prey on.

Gert Yorkes: Neo. Hear me out, Gertrudes main powers come from her connection to her Velociraptor Old Lace(YEAH), which is a genetically edited dinosaur. One of the gifts of a Neo is a Pet which they can summon and instruct, so I would put Gert as a Neo who invests Solely into Pet as Old Lace.

Molly Hayes/Hernandez: Emotion Knight. As far as I know most of Molly's uses of her powers in the early epiodes came about when she was distressed or surprised which lines up very well for an Emotion knight, I'd make her a Vigilance or Fear knight personally.

A bit of class repeating here but hey, a little bit of messiness fits the Runaways.

Hello again niche communities. This time we have Lev Grossmans, The Magicians & Stephanie Hans & Kieron Gillens DIE. As in what would happen if the cast of The Magicians was transported to the world of DIE, what roles would they play as Paragons

Quentin Coldwater - Master: I feel like this one writes itself, Quentin was SO desperate to escape normal life in the books and show, it makes complete sense in the absence of Brakebills or Fillory that he would be the one to instigate DIE. So for the instigator of the world-hop and the archetype given to the one who most dwells in the fantasy and gets the most power out of it, I feel it suits him best.

Julia Wicker - Neo: While I could see an excellent argument for Godbinder for Julia, hear me out. Julia is the member of the cast with the strongest theme of addiction in relation to her need for magic. This aligns perfectly with the Neos themes in the comics as someone who NEEDS to steal fair gold to access their techno-rouge magic, and Julia already has a basis as a thief and roguish character as a hedge-witch in the magicians.

Alice Quinn - Godbinder: This role suits Alice best I feel as the most levelheaded of the group, Alice in the books is a prodigy with her control of magic and her even-temper, she's a brilliant person and the most competent of the group. I can't imagine someone better suited to keeping a cool head when bargaining with deities and demons.

Eliot Waugh - Fool: This one is pretty easy, Elliots persona as a detached sardonic bohemian aligns perfeclty with the one requirement for a Fool in that they need to be able to maintain an unflappable facade in order to remain invincible or as close to it as you can get.

Margo Hanson - Dictator: Margo has probably some of the toughest characterization in the books, but the show leans more heavily on how much of a player she is in terms of her ability to push peoples buttons and read them. She wouldn't need a Dictators talents to push and pull others according to her will, but she'd definitely use them most effectively.

Penny - Emotion Knight: Again, pretty easy. Grumpy punk dickhead aligns very easily with the class built around channeling an emotion into raw power.

Thoughts on RWD's "Do Or Die" one-shot

Right after I came up with my best idea yet for making fun of the hooded stranger in the corner of the tavern, for my own fantasy world, I get to hear Red describe someone as "doing the Aragorn pose." I feel like I scored bonus points or something.

...Right after realizing that, a year ago, Sophia's My Immortal reference would have gone right over my basic little head. Thank you again, Mr. @strange-aeons , for everything.

Wally RPing an insecure, timid character is fascinating. I've never heard him play anyone like Xavier. And Max is living my dream, playing a selfish asshole character for laughs... Noir and Sophia with Mirage Tempest's edginess, too!

It wasn't what happened, but I early on I had the idea that the players' characters' old characters settled down to normie lives after the characters stopped playing them. Not only is that one of my favorite death alternatives, with some parallel in real-life adventurers, but it's a great idea for a reunion session at a real TTRPG table, timeskipping the heroes forward to mirror how time has passed for the players.

What an incredibly creepy concept, Jumanji but it's messing with your head. Was that because of Noir's adventure concept, or is that part of how Die's intrinsic design?

And then the feels started coming, and I had no more chatter. Damn, Noir, you do angst so fucking well!

the paragon i'm playing in a die rpg game! you may remember ellis, sad goth teenager - this is the character she embodies in the world of die. an eight foot tall, incredibly imposing knight, who speaks in a voice as deep as a crypt and clanks with every step. is there anything inside the armour? who knows!!

and another new ttrpg character design! "box why are you constantly joining new games" i hear you ask. i have no answer for this either. i just like making new characters

anyway! this is ellis, my character for a new game of the die rpg that's starting... soon! technically, this is her pre-game, pre-timeskip - angsty goth teenager at a private school. i wanted to do a lineup of this ellis, her adult self, and her in-game paragon, but... that'll happen at some point.

I've been having a lot of fun designing my character's Paragon in DIE. Generally, this game gives me basically everything I could ever ask for. Trauma, broken people, wish fulfillment, portal fantasy, more trauma...
