Anna Held
Tatiana Nikolaevna Romanov was born June 10th, 1897 to Nicholas II of Russia and Alexandra Feodorovna (Alix of Hesse) the Tsar and Tsarina of Russia. She was the second eldest of the five imperial royal children and had an older sister which she was very close to named Olga Nikolaevna Romanov, and three younger siblings named Maria Nikolaevna Romanov, Anastasia Nikolaevna Romanov, and her only brother Alexei Nikolaevich Romanov. Tatiana and all her sisters were Grand Duchesses of imperial Russia, and Alexei was the Tsarevich of Russia, or heir. Tatiana was close to her senior sister Olga and that made them naturally branch off into what others called’ the big pair’, while Anastasia and Maria were named’ the little pair’. Tatiana was closest to her mother mostly and always knew how to speak with her to calm her down when she was stressed or angry, which was qualities that weren’t so uncommon when Russia went into war. Tatiana was very religious, a trait all of her family had. Tatiana resembled her mother the most of all the children, and was quite often considered the most beautiful of all her sisters by Russia. Tatiana was murdered by the Bolshevik Firing Squad on July 16th, 1918 in the basement of the Ipatiev House while being held in captivity. Her execution occurred around 2:00 in the morning and a gunshot wound to the head was what ultimately killed the 21 year old girl. Tatiana was buried in the 1990s after her body was recovered. The beauty of Russia, may be gone, but will not ever be forgotten.
